headphone mode locked

I just got god of war and i cant enable headphone mode even though i have stereo headphones. this wouldnt be an issue but i cant hear anyone talking in cutscenes, i dont know where any of the sounds are coming from and i can barely hear anything that is too far away

I am also having this sound issue. I hear no voices during cut scenes. During the game I can only hear the child if I am directly looking at him...but I can't hear Kratos. It's weird. I have a decent surround sound head set. Can't play the game unless sound is fixed.

Seem to have resolved this:
- plug headphones into controller (xbox)
- start game, change it to stereo/headphones
- shut game down

Use headphones normally, when going back into the game stereo/headphones should still be selected.
