I'm wondering do you use gforce experience? I kinda remember reading some where that it was causing memory leaks with games. I never used it had no need. But i haven't heard good things about it.
But yeah, I'm at a point where I don't know what to do.
I'll try verifying the game files. I hadn't touched the game for months before today, maybe the patched files need to be fixed? I'll do that tomorrow, I'll post an update.
Was able to play for about an hour without stutters, abnormal RAM usage, or crashes. So, what changed? 2 things:
1) Verified the integrity of the game files through Steam. Before yesterday, the game was left untouched for months. So my theory is that with the last few patches, some files weren't patched properly. Steam detected that 29 files were either missing or corrupt, so it replaced them after it'd verified all the files.
2) Windows being Windows. For some reason, the device installation setting (driver install) was set back to "automatic". This is a huge no-no. Why? Well, Windows likes to use untested/generic drivers for certain devices (including a mobo's chipset), so stability and compatibility become an issue. By looking at the event viewer, I saw that Windows had tried to automatically "update" the B550 chipset driver but reported a failure around right before I experienced my crashes mentioned above. Did a clean reinstall of everything AFTER disabling Windows' automatic install.
Pretty sure my crashes were due to the corrupted/missing files, but who knows. I'll keep testing the game later. So far though, the results are promising.
I havent even had a single crash, playing since release, and this was BEFORE the updates. You arent even asking for a suggestion here, and then you saying the game is great but this sucks, is because you dont want too much flame, and try to cover up for your ♥♥♥♥♥♥ points.
My guy, of course I said the game is great. Am I not allowed to like the game DESPITE facing problems? I stated my observations and did some tests. The hell does that have to do with covering my ass? I wanted other people's opinions on this, and I made a point about liking the game so that people would understand my eagerness to have a smooth gaming experience. The hell are you smoking?
People have stated other issues in other parts of the GoW forums, why are you singling me out? More importantly, why do you see this as an attack against GoW? I was only sharing my experiences and reported them for FEEDBACK in order to solve the issue.
Hell, if you'd bothered reading my posts above, you'd have seen that I found the possible culprits. I just wanted to play the damn game.
And AGAIN, the memory leak was a huge deal in the game's early days. Don't discount other people's reports that have been backed by the devs themselves. People are also very much still frustrated over the devs' lack of response to support tickets. Which is why I myself was frustrated when starting this post, I just wanted answers, be it regarding the port OR possible solutions specific to my setup.
I'm genuinely curious as to why you think it's okay to accuse me of certain things just because you've had a different experience.
