Experimental Branch – Test Fix for "Out of Memory" Errors
We've seen a number of people reporting issues with "Out of Memory" errors on start up when the computer should otherwise have ample memory.

In our investigation of these issues we found that the vast majority of these were happening to people with new 12th Gen Intel CPUs with integrated graphics and that disabling the graphics card allowed people to work around the issue.

We've prepared a hot fix to resolve this issue and would love your help in validating the fix if you're willing. We've setup a separate branch on Steam called "experimental" that will allow you to download this hot fix and see if it resolves the issue.

Please note that we have not completed our full round of quality assurance testing on this build, so there could be instances of instability that we have not identified yet. Still, if you're willing to help, please download this new build and let us know in the comments how it goes.

To access the experimental branch, follow these steps:
  • In your Steam library, right click on ‘God of War’ and select ‘Properties’
  • Select the ‘BETAS’ tab
  • Change the drop down to ‘experimental’

If you do not see the experimental branch in the drop down, please restart your Steam client.

To switch back to the default branch, follow these steps:
  • In your Steam library, right click on ‘God of War’ and select ‘Properties’
  • Select the ‘BETAS’ tab
  • Change the drop down to ‘none’

Hi all --

We have created a separate thread for users who are experiencing the "Out of Memory" crash that happens after several hours of play, not at boot.

If you are able to still boot your game, but experience a memory leak or the "Out of Memory" crash after launching and playing the game, please head here.

If you can provide your system specs there for our devs to look at, that would be very appreciated!

We have also added a line to the Known Issues for tracking.

Since we are seeing multiple reported instances of this, submit a ticket via our support portal[support.sms.playstation.com] for the developers to see, please include the following:
  • PC Specifications
  • Game Version
  • DXDiag report

How to collect your DXDiag:

In order to collect your DXDiag as a text file for use with troubleshooting, follow these steps:
  1. Open Command Prompt from the Start Menu
  2. In the Command Prompt window, type "dxdiag" and press enter
  3. This will open the DirectX Diagnostic tool in a new window
  4. Allow the bar in the bottom left to fill completely as it is gathering relevant data for your computer
  5. Select "Save All Information" to generate a text file that you can save to a desired location

Did you guys have the latest 511.23 graphics driver from nVidia if you have a nVdia card? I believe AMD released a new driver for God of War too around a week back, not sure about driver details as I don't have an AMD graphics card.

Yes. I also tried exiting Precision X1 and Razer Synapse, disabling my efficiency cores, running as admin and disabling fullscreen optimizations. And I don't have any Antivirus running. No luck.
