GOW can't detect joystick

Hi. Utter gaming newbie here. I played God of War a little with keyboard & mouse and loved it. Bought a Thrustmaster TCA Sidestick because I thought it might be better.

Joystick directions said, "Plug in the USB cable and drivers will be installed automatically." In GOW under Settings, Change Controls, I tried to reset the controls by selecting, say, Light Attack, and then pressing the joystick button to replace the default. The game doesn't react to joystick buttons at all, so I can't use it.

What am I doing wrong? Thanks.

Isn't that a flight controller? How can you thought it would be better?
Regardless, you can go to Steam-Settings-Controller to setup and test the controller and/or use Steam input to map any controller however you want.
