crests of surtr

Ok, I have been to the fire realm trials but on pc how do you know if you get gold on them? Well if gold equals crests of surtr I can know when i dont get gold , because I neve get this resource. Although I get to the trial 5 or 6 where you have to not take any damage, I can't pass that one. I got down to 4 enemies and sum itch got me from behind. I have repeated that trial over and over on the easiest setting, it is too difficult, and please tell me Ill get like 50 crests of surtr when I finally get it? Every decent armor , talismans need this. You can't buy it. Why would they make it so rare if every armor you want requires so much of it?
Played the storyline 4 or 5 times now game plus mode. I have three sets of armor at least and a talisman to upgrade using this resource. There is no longer a point as I been through every thing else. EXCEPT VALKERIES
