New DLSS Sharpness Slider
So, I just realized that the game has a new DLSS Sharpness Slider.

Has the sharpness also been reduced a little?

And it is at 35 by the default. But what do you all think is the best setting that looks the best?

What "looks best" is entirely subjective. I hate sharpening filters with a passion, so the only thing that generally looks good to me is no added sharpening.

This game currently doesn't allow for that while using DLSS since DLSS Sharpness set to 0 still adds sharpness. It's a hell of a lot better than it was before the slider was added, but it's not quite there yet.

And yes, I'm aware I could just turn off DLSS, but I'm not willing to give up the massive performance boost it gets me on my 2060 Super at 1440p, even at Quality.

See I personally didn't think it was too sharp. I thought originally the Quality setting looked better than Native. It appeared to have more detail.

That is why now at the setting set to 35 by default, I don't know if it is less sharp than it was originally, or if that is where it was before the added slider.

I am also playing at 4K resolution, so the results might be different than they are at 1440p.

Same here. I thought DLSS quality was fine at 4K.

It's subjective. I've been examining screenshots and even at the extremes (0 and 100), both were acceptable to me. I would say that 0 is a touch on the soft side, but not offensively so. 100 is okay, but the pores of the skin can be slightly exaggerated, giving the skin a texture that looks a bit like leather. So far, I've only determined that I would probably prefer a level between 20 and 80.

I honestly do not understand the people who say that sharpening at zero is still too high. I'm skeptical of that assertion and am wondering if they have film grain enabled and are confusing the film grain for sharpening artifacts. Maybe people have gotten use to FXAA or have become desensitized to high quality textures after playing too much RDR2 which was disgustingly blurry.

The DLSS built in sharpening is garbage as it adds a ton of artificacts when moving. I would disable it entirely and use AMD CAS via reshade like I am doing and it looks much better on DLSS. Weird how an AMD solution used on top of nvidia technology produces the best results.

Unfortunately the slider they introduced is broken as if you set it to zero percent it doesn’t disable sharpening when in motion. So I am using the mod to disable it.

I haven't noticed any artifacts. I also don't think it looks too sharp either. I play at 4K with DLSS Quality and I think the game looks fantastic.

No it's not.

This is fantastic.
Because it's DLSS + DLDSR and just 2k to 1080p https://fastpic.org/view/116/2022/0130/_33974fa98489fc844a53d6bc8d6e5793.png.html

GoW is an old game with many graphics futures which is implemented horrible!

After playing this game i can say that i don't need any port from PS to PC.

That was disgusting. That link was horrible.

Why don't you pay attention to what kind of link you are sending next time.

Thank you. Some one with some sense. God of War runs fantastic for me as well. Can't wait to play some Uncharted through Steam.

It would be nice if Sony would port Gran Turismo 7 when it is released. That game looks amazing.

And I don't care that GOW is a four year old game. It is still amazing, and PC is the best way to play it.

Everyone complaining about it being to sharp and that there are artifacts, well, I just don't know. I don't see any artifacts. I am playing at 4K. And I am sure if I looked at how they are running the game I would think it looks like a blurry horrible mess.

You're welcome, ZeekAncient.

And Gran Turismo 7 is my number one most wanted port from anywhere to Steam.

I haven’t noticed any and I play at 4k on a 55in SAMSUNG TV only a few feet away. Maybe you’re seeing the film grain?

That is hilarious. I haven't any either and I play at 4K on a 58in Sharp TV. About 6 feet or so away. I also have the film grain, and motion blur(hate motion blur) all the way down to 0.

So, what is your PC setup if you don't mind me asking?

Edit: I just saw you are using a 12700KF and 3080. I am jealous, lol, I only have a 10700KF and a 3070 Ti, :(

Lmao, man our profile pages look similar.

I am sitting around 4 feet away from my 55in LG CX TV and DLSS even on quality looks grainy. You should try disabling DLSS and see native 4K and switch back and forth and it will be obvious. Maybe I am just incredibly sensitive to it but for me force disabling the sharpness using the mod and applying cas makes it look closest to native 4K. The default sharpness causes me eye strain.

it works on AMD gpu's as well even tho AMD has their own sharpening filter settings normally for FSR that is missing perhaps its just normal sharpening filter they named dlss sharpening to be quickly done with it.
