Why does 30fps feel better on console than it does on PC?
For example, if you played a game that is optimized for 30fps on console, it will feel smooth with no obvious input delay or stutteriness. However if you played that same game on PC with a 30fps framerate lock, it will feel horribly jagged, stuttery, screen tearing, etc.

Why is that? I noticed this when I played Days Gone on PS4 Pro, it looked great in 4K 30fps on my tv. When I got the game on my old weak PC and locked it to 30fps, it never dropped below 30fps but it felt like it was 15-20fps just in terms of choppiness in gameplay and jitter.

Because the console game is optimized for the console. The PC game has a lot of different PCs to run on. Each with different specs. Lots of different in games settings can also play a role. I can't play anything below 90 fps without being bothered by it. I haven't touched my PS4 in years since I got used to the higher framerates of PC.

Do you use a controller on PC? for me at least 30fps feels worse on kb&m than controller

Because many PC games have frametime issues when locking the fps with in-game vsync. On consoles, games that "feel" smooth have stable frametime of 33.3ms while in many PC games even if the game is running on locked 30fps the frametime will still fluctuate with 0.x ms every second or so. Fortunately there is a easy way to fix this, just open Riva Tuner and lock the framerate to 30fps there and you will achieve perfect locked frametime at selected framerate.

Its because your tv has build in smoothing its not smoother its just fake cos of your tv

That one + console games heavily rely on post-processing methods like motion blur to cover the choppy 30fps when you turn the camera. Furthermore, you usually sit very close to your PC screen but not directly in front of you TV. I play my PS4 games on my monitor and the 30 FPS are very noticable.

My own tv has smoothing as well it bassicly can convert 30 hz into 240hz but it only accepts 60hz input max and adds input delay so its not really good for gaming, unless ofcourse dont care about that like single player game

It doesn't.

30FPS feels like crap no matter what platform you play on.

30fps (locked) is 30fps (locked) whether it is on PC or console. It's very noticeable when compared to say, 60fps, or even 40-50fps.

If it isn't noticeable to you yet, your eyes are still trained to 30fps, sitting on a sofa several feet away from a TV.

When you sit at a desktop, the monitor is about 2 feet or less away from your eyes so it is very noticeable.

When you have no other choice, any choice feels great.

Feels the same on console or PC. You probably had some settings different. For example, Motion blur greatly improves the look of 30fps games on console.. if you played the same game on PC at 30fps but with motion blur off, then it will look like 20fps in comparison as motion blur really helps to bridge the gap between frames.

It's to do with gamepad not showing up 30 FPS as deficient compared to 30fps using a mouse. If the game has poor framepacing on PC the FPS will always feel bad whether its 30 or 60.

Maybe there is a framepacing issue when you are playing on PC, rather than it being an FPS issue?

Don't know what you're on about. I play a lot of games at high frame rates with a gamepad without any issues, FPS has no relation with input controls.

Input lag is another thing entirely.

because you (and many other people) still don't know about Scanline Sync in Riva Tuner for a perfectly steady 33.33ms frametime at 30 fps.

Finally that's what I was trying to tell them but they totally missed my message it seems and were busy coming up with their own mystery theories 🤣

use RTSS to lock to 30fps and enjoy a console-like experience. do not use the in-game fps cap
