Light runic attack glitch-- how do I fix it?

I just started this game and I'm in the part where I'm going up the mountain. I just got my first runic attack and it's saying to hold Q and left-click, but it doesn't do anything? It won't let me perform a light runic attack, which means I can't progress throughout the game. What do I do?

Make sure you're holding the ax.

Make sure you have your axe in hand and you will need to hold Q and left-click by hitting them at the same time. Not, hold Q and then hold left-click. There will be later mechanics that require the same thing. So yeah hitting both buttons at the same time and holding should do the trick, or you may just need to revert to a previous save.

You must equip your axe with the ruine. Go into the menu and add the gem to your weapon. You find the ruine/gem in the chest nearby to the right.

im having the same problem and trying to do what people are saying but nothing is working, did you end up fixing it?

remap it if its not working

Make sure it's on your axe the ruin, if so take it off and put it back on again, fixed it for me.
