Do you enjoy the story conclussion? (spoiler)
So kratos kills badlur. However i do not realy like that conclussion for several reasons.

Kratos said he wants to stop the circle of vengeance. Freya was willing to give her life for baldur. She loved him more then anything. I dunno what did kratos expect to happen when he just kills him infront of her like that. With the argument to stop the circle of violence.

Like holy moly how dumb was that what does he expect freya to do. Shrug a moment and say:"ya well ♥♥♥♥ happens"

Baldur started to strangle freya but would he realy kill her. You never know. His curse was broken maybe he would had stopped cause he realises what he does is wrong.

And even if he kills her then what. Would he realy hunt kratos. Even if he decided to hunt him. He wasn't capable to defeat kratos even when he was immortal. He was no threat to kratos nor loki at all.

If he was realy concerned about the saftey of loki he would had to kill freya as well at that moment. Instead he let's that very powerful god with all his anger behind as if nothing would happen.

What do you think about the conclusion?

The ending is beautifully poetic, especially if one knows Kratos' past.

The reason why he defended Freya is because for the first time in his lifetime of pain and misery caused by the Gods who always deceived him and tried to use him in some way, he came across a God who was the complete opposite. One who wasn't malicious, but loving and caring towards all creatures of the world, especially their children. A God he considers a friend.

Kratos is someone who blindingly followed his path of vengeance so far that he ruined an entire civilization just to sate his unending rage, only to realize at the end of that path that it brought him no peace whatsoever, which is why he is in the north and why he said the exact same thing to Baldur to try and reason with him.

Kratos saw his young self in Baldur, a son blindly consumed by vengeance against their own parent. A never ending cycle. Just like Zeus fought Kronos, just like Kratos fought Zeus, just like Atreus would have had Kratos not taught him how to be better.

So he snapped his neck to stop the cycle of children killing their parents and save a friend. Naturally because Freya is caring and loving, she got consumed by grief and swore to kill Kratos, but he knows her rage is only focused on him and not Atreus, which is why he is alright with it.

What happens next is the story in God Of War Ragnarok that further builds upon what happens in the ending.

But even without Ragnarok, I still loved the ending. It was beautifully poetic, especially because he was quoting his own father when he said "The cycle ends here...".

He killed her son. I wouldn't bet on the fact that she would only want to kill kratos. She could also decide to make him suffer by killing loki. That is what i think is problematic.
I would understand if he decided to leave baldur and freya too see what happens.

I would also understand if he kills freya and baldur.

For Kratos it was allways LOKI>everything. He created himself a very powerful nemesis. Probably much more powerful then baldur ever was. He actualy put loki in much bigger danger this way and that is where the end does not realy fit the narration.

Make no mistake kratos would kill friends if they would try to kill loki. So that he considers freya a freind or a good god doesen't matter.

Everything that may be an issue for you regarding Kratos' actions during the ending is all addressed in the sequel, which is why I cannot discuss it any further because it is spoiler territory.

But the fact that he was willing to reason with Baldur despite everything, should be a good example of what kind of man he is now. If he was truly as you think he is, he'd have killed them both right at the spot.
