Most of the time I played the game he never got in the way.
In my opinion, it gives the game some character. One of the main reasons Kratos acts cold towards him isn't because he's annoyed, he's just trying to keep Atreus safe. Kratos doesn't want his son to be influenced by his own behavior, which is why he acts distant at times.
I mean, Jesus, man. It's a game but I always find these "remove Atreus mods" posts kinda harsh for multiple reasons.
"Can you read it, boy?"
"Yes, boy."
This story is about the messy family dynamics between a father and his son both on a very important journey they both want to accomplish - but must do so together. Yes kids can be "annoying" - especially when they arent yours - but that's the story. So without spoiling this 4 year old masterpiece, it's worth it to get Atreus' skills up, witness the growth between two contrasting personalities, and enjoy his deep character arc - and also that of Kratos.
It's so rare for flat priced games to be built by devs and investors that cared about putting out a quality product. Despite the shallow design arguments posted everywhere, it was a DAY ONE polished title (both PS4 and PC at release), with tons of quality content (not drip fed like some online GaaS trash), and was created with excellent level/character/enemy design and set pieces. Most people agreed this was a masterpiece at release vs other games. Without mods.
So for me, this came during a time when the new normal are games released as ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ microtransaction riddled SCAMs or cash grab remasters/remakes/ports/IP reskins etc etc etc - and when real, demonstrative gaming art comes along (not psychologically driven game-ified shops) I just enjoy the ride of a well crafted work of entertainment. The product is worth leaving intact without mods.
Just my 2 cents. Have fun either way.
Odd. Im feeling similar about this post here in the forum. Thankfully at least here there is a block mechanic that erases you from my reality. :)
lmao get a load of this clown
Anyway if there was a mod just to remove all his dialogue that would be perfect.
