Is this a remake?

I’ve always wanted to play this series but only have Xbox and PC. I don’t want to play this game if it’s a later story, I would rather play chronologically. But if it’s a remaster of the first then I’ll buy it right now

It's a standalone type of sequel, many of the events from the past games are mentioned and it makes it it's own thing but no, it's not a remake.

it's a sequel but it's barely connected to the other games, you don't need to play them to understand the story

PS3 emulator can play all of the original series very comfortably.

Worth noting you don't have to have played the previous games to enjoy this new trilogy. It stands on its own and even with the first game(second coming soon to playstation) its frankly superior to the past games.

That said if you don't want to play through the previous games you can find story/lore summaries on youtube and even watch all the cutscenes from the previous games.
