What is mean by "Banking" in Niflheim
In some guides available on the net, they suggested collecting Mist Echoes and bank in the workshop or with Sindri before the gas meter on the top runs out. What is mean by bank and how to do that?

Also, it looks like one time I collected lots of Mist Echoes but when I went to the workshop. they disappeared (no longer shows up on the screen). What went wrong?

No worries, nothing went wrong, when you reach the workshop or Sindri, none of the materials you collected in the Niflheim maze are lost. You can check them in the resources menu or as you trade with Sindri.

But if you get killed in the maze and restart from a checkpoint, the materials you gathered in the failed maze run are gone. So what they mean with banking: It is better to return a bit early than to risk losing your rewards. Especially after the encounter with the Valkyrie.

By "return a bit earlier", do you mean return to Sindri and sell him whatever I have collected? So just take lots of short trips until I get those powerful armors?

Yes and no. Short trips help until you get your first set of armor with mist resistance. But some materials are only obtainable from areas deeper into the maze. No need to sell anything, but check what useful stuff you could "grip" *cough* ... I mean buy from Sindri. Chests in Ivaldis workshop and random enchantment drops can also help to improve your ability to survive longer in the maze. And with returning early, I just mean that you should not risk failure if you have already collected a nice stock of materials in your current run. Hope that helps and happy maze running :D

When in Niflheim your objective is to collect as many mist echoes from the maze before your mist resistance bar depletes.

Using the mist armor set along with the grip of the maze for your axe should be good enough to help you last long in there. If you need additional resistance, you can use the Hvergelmir Stone talisman.

Ideally you have to go through the whole maze in one direction (either clockwise or counter clockwise) and open every coffin and chest you come across without having to back track.

Once you have cleared out the maze and have gathered everything possible, you just leave the maze by returning to Sindri's shop. This will automatically save your echoes collected along with any Niflheim alloy, Haze Weave and Aesirbane you collect.

Thank you. Somewhere I read that if Kratos dies before returning, he loses everything. For the stuff he collected before dying, can he pick them up again later on or they will be lost forever?

Is the axe the main weapon to use in Nifheim? I usually use the blades which seem to be able to kill several nearby enemies.

How come Atreus needs more time to fire consecutive shots in Nifheim?

You're welcome. When you die in the maze, that just throws you back to the point when you last entered the maze. You do not lose any items other than those you collected inside the maze, during that failed run.

One more thing about shorter and longer runs I realized: The rewards from the golden chests depend on your mist echo count of the current run.

That is true but regarding the gold chests, you only leave the one in the deepest chambers for later if you have less than 3000 echoes banked. Otherwise you open every other chest that you see right away as they get automatically looted if you do a second sweep of the maze.
