You are going to need a much better GPU (at least the equivalent of a GTX 10 or 16 series to run the game) and more system RAM.
The gaming laptops are a lot more expensive as they have much better hardware. I have an MSI gaming laptop which is a core i7 8750, RTX 2080 and 32 GB RAM which can definitely handle the game (at 1080p for sure if not higher)
the actual specs of the computer matter more than a "gaming" label. Something that isn't even labeled for gaming can be better than a so called gaming machine simply because it has better specs. It will also depend how optimized the game will be, if you look on youtube for benchmarks for your GPU, it runs Red Dead Redemption at about 30fps and that is a hard game to run, so if GOW has better optimization than that game then its possible you will be able to run it, most likely low graphics and 30fps.Your card is capable of running a lot of games tho, not at the best graphic settings but yea.
Had a look at this video.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F0UbzEwZtZ8
Open world games like HZD, Mafia DE are being run at 720p low quality setting. That is just a terrible resolution and quality level to be playing a game at this day and age on PC. With just 2GB of VRAM you cannot run games at a good level of quality. A game like God Of War wont even be enjoyed properly if you have to sacrifice a lot on visual quality.
His laptop was clearly not intended for gaming.. its purely a student/home office laptop.
