Is there a free roam mode or just linear story?
I've never played god of war games before because i do not own a console, but when i took a glimpse on it before buying it, it had a map with markers and so on, so I expected something like Assassin's Creed style or, well, any game with open world style where you can pick your own battles, do upgrades and so on, but what i have now is just linear progression inside a corridor where one scripted battle in a room follows another one and every upgrade is pretty much scripted, can't even name a game I recently played that was as linear, feels like I am Atreus and the game is Kratos, and he just holds my hand and points me where to go and I just follow, as if I was a little kid lol.

So, does it have a free roam mode where I actually have a say on where to go?

Its like a linear open world, so yes it has some free roam elements. There's some locations like a huge lake where you can freely ride around and go places/find things, and there's also times when the path only has one way, with things to find if you explore the area as you go.

Once you get to a certain point you can travel around doing side missions, getting supplies to upgrade you gear. Without ruining anything I think its after getting the light mission. Its not open like AC story missions are linear.

Ah okay so after some point. Yeah I think I am somewhere near the light mission, currently progressing the stuff connected to light.

Lmao. thats what I be calling games that are linear, but have free exploring mechanics. Like i'd call Dark Souls a linear open world too.

It's like Zelda and Dark Souls games. Open-ish.
And if you say Dark Souls and Zelda have nothing in common, you're crazy.

Was about to say this.
+1
Semi Open World? Not sure how to call it. Soft Open World perhaps? Open-World-Like?

Liniar Open World covers it i guess :D

Lite open world, I suppose.

I would not call this an open world game. Its more like there are small hubs where you can explore as you wish so its not completely linear. IMO, these are my favorite types of games as typical open world games just get repetitive copy paste after a while and too linear just feels claustrophobic.

I have to agree with that. It reminds me more of Witcher 2's "open world" where it's just small areas you can explore depending on where you are in the story.
