Seems it's much better than the version played on PS5
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JI5t0pvBB-Y

Digital Foundry's review of the PC version... Not only do they say it's better than the PS5 version in terms of graphics/resolution but the load times are around 4 seconds faster on the PC.... and I thought the PS5 SSD was supposed to be some sort of amazing "next gen" thing.

The PS5 using chequered 4K resolution gets slated throughout the review as well, I can see why with how blurry and distorted it makes the game look.

Glad to see PC owners getting the ultimate version of this game, well done to the guys who ported this over, job's a good one.

A note, though: Alex mentions in the video that the "PS5" version is the PS4 Pro version running in backwards-compatibility mode with a 60 FPS cap.

Well it is. There is no PS5 version. PS5 is running the exactly same 2018 release, only with a patch to boost fps to 60 and that's it. Resolution, textures, details.. are all from the PS4.

God of War Ragnarok is, unfortunately, a PS4 game as well... I wish they would fully focus in the new gen instead.

Be nice once they stop focusing on last gen and truly go for a next gen experience.
I do wonder why the PS5's SSD doesn't help load the game at a faster rate though. I thought it was promoted to be speedy as Hell yet from Digital Foundry's findings, it's around 4 seconds slower at loading in comparison to a PC with SSD.

God of War is running the PS4/PS4 Pro version under backward-compatibility with an enhanced 60 FPS framerate but is otherwise the same game with no other graphical enhancements. If this was a native PS5 version then it would only run from the internal storage and make full use of the consoles super-fast SSD read speeds. I have God of War on my PS5 installed to a 4 TB external Crucial X6 SSD along with all my other PS4 games, many enhanced for PS5 with 60 FPS framerate.

I expect that the PS5 may get a proper enhanced version of God of War nearer the release of the Ragnarok sequel, similar to what they did with the first Spider-Man when Miles Morale was released on PS5 (I got both in a special edition disc version although the first game was a digital download). It makes sense for some of the PC enhancements to be included in a PS5 version. Time will tell though.

It won't be the same as native PS4 games running on PS5 though because the game will have a native app that supports all the features of the new console, including higher quality textures, LODs and faster loading. It may also be redesigned slightly to bypass scenes where background loading might be happening on PS4.

When you think about it, it is no different from PC which has to support lower end systems as well as higher end ones, albeit it has to support a wider variety of hardware. I wouldn't say from personal experience that this has held back PC games development. True, FIFA 22 on PC lacks the current-gen graphical enhancements and Pro-motion feature but that is more down to EA's attitude to PC and lazy development than anything else as those could easily have been added and older machines still supported as well.

Of course it's Superior on the PC because the PC is the superior platform, so unless you have a terrible port like the Souls series then it's a bit like saying "My Lamborghini is better than your mini." Of course it's better, because it is better, unless you've got an incredibly good mini and he's got an incredibly bad Lamborghini.

I realise this will annoy console newbies (why are they here?) but they've been annoying me for years whenever something's been dumbed down or ruined or made more stupid because of console newbies and their kiddie consoles.

Now I bet that console newbies are super angry (why are they here?) but I never read anything they say, or in the case of console newbies, perhaps I should say. 'I NEVER READ ANYTHING THEY SAY'. Now console newbies can understand.

Prepare insults console newbies, but I won't be here (why are they here?).

Other than LOD pop in, I can't honestly say that the PC version looks *that* different visually from the game running on PS5 on my 55" LG B9 OLED TV when actually playing it since I am not sat that close to the screen to see the differences. Stand still and look around and, yes, differences can be seen if I look carefully but this isn't a game where you stand still for long.

Obviously, the PC version *is* better graphically with the higher settings, reduced LOD pop in and native 4K rendering (which may well end up in an enhanced PS5 version at some point) but I cannot see the 4K checkerboard artifacts on PS4 Pro and PS5 unless I look closely and even then Digital Foundry had to zoom in to show them in their video analysis so I could see them on my 27" PC monitor from a 4K60 stream!!!

I think the biggest win for PC personally is the ability to play above 60 FPS but that has issues at the moment as highlighted in the DF video.

imagine downplaying PS5 when your showing off an Overpriced Alienware Prebuilt PC Thats weaker than a PS5 on your profile with a 1440p Monitor Aswell

I gave you the Jester award for your previous post that you clearly edited but is still wrong, congrats.

thanks but truth hurts he spent double the price of a PS5 on an Alienware Prebuilt which he could of saved money and built a PC himself he even got a subpar processor and Ram inside that Alienware aswell. i cant even imagine what the Airflow and cooling situation must be like inside that. Dell took all his money. just giving him some Criticism if a PC Gamer is gonna brag about his "Rig" being better than a console atleast build one yourself he just threw money away for hardly a big difference anyone with a Brain or atleast any knowledge in building computers know how terrible prebuilts are no wonder the guy is spreading his insecurities to console owners with this joke of a thread lmao.

Haha you silly jester you, my rig has about 3 times the power of PS5.... Just the fact that you said "he even got a subpar processor" shows you know nothing at all about PC components. Since when was a 10900KF (that retails just shy of £400) known as a subpar processor.

The fact that obtaining a RTX3080 is a struggle within itself, getting a prebuilt was the way forward for me, It's really not that expensive when one has a job.

You got ripped off with that computer i built mine from hand picked parts. Alienware is a scam

It's just money pal, I mean looking at your previous posts, you've had nothing but problems with your GPU... That must suck ehh, not had any issues at all at my side but oh well :steamhappy:
