Is this game similar to Souls?
Hello guys,

I'm considering buying GoW, but I've seen some comparison's that the GoW is similar to Dark Souls.
While I don't like Souls, if the GoW is nothing like it, I'll gladly buy it but I just want to be sure in the 1st place from the 1st hand.

thanks,
Tom

No. If you're looking for a Souls like game wait until Elden Ring comes out next month.

Not really. They're both 3rd person action games, but the comparison ends there. GoW is significantly more story focused and the combat is far, far, far more forgiving than a souls game. Think more along the lines of Uncharted or the new Tomb Raider games.

Not at all, if anything it's closer to Hellblade meets Zelda but at the end of the day it's really it's own thing. It's a story heavy, metroidvania action adventure with puzzle solving and rpg elements.

I hate anything souls-like, that's why I specifically searched for this topic. Now that I've established that it isn't souls like I can happily buy it.

same here. I stated in the main topic that I don't like Souls-type games and I've seen that some people here compare it.
That's why I decided to simply ask, there is no need to depthly compare it with anything, just wanted to have a clear picture what's like.

It is challenging, very challenging in fact, if that is the thing that makes you wonder.
However unlike souls games it has difficulty levels.

What the hell is wrong with the difficulty in this game? Playing on normal and it's like nightmare. And where is the damn heal, most fights you don't even get heal stones around.

Yes it's exactly like Dark Souls. Exactly.

Much less so.
It's more like Metroid Prime by design than these other two. But overall GOW is it's own thing and there isn't much comparison to be made with other games.

It is only going to ramp it up, it is extremely challenging. But you should check your runes etc.
Some runes increase the chance of health items, or luck etc.
Just smash everything and there is bound to be more than one health stone.
Also parrying enemies normally drops health stones.
I really love the combat in GOW, but it's not like DS. Nowhere near as punishing.

the closest comparision in terms of storyline and gameplay think the Devil May Cry series.
