Fighting valkyries in god of war difficulties is complitely UNBELIVEABLE DIFFICULT.
Even in dark souls/sekiro it's isn't that hard lul, i will cry of happiness when i will kill them.
I haven't fight Valkyrie yet... But imho Sekiro, hell even Dark Souls 3, are so far much more difficult! The hardest Boss I fought was in Sekiro, Father Owl but in Hirata Estate!!! He was there optional Boss, and took me 5 hours to git gud and beat Him! Last Boss took me like 2-2,5h... And when I started NG+ I beat him in Prologue!!! But game just ignored it, and he cut my arm anyway 😛😝

The queen Sigrun like what the talking head said putting it lightly when saying she is the strongest of all the Valkyries. And that head speaks wisdom.

I play on normal mode, I encounter using rare armor and she beat the crap out of me. Killing me under a minute.

I went for legendary, and still kills me in one wing stab.

I go for epic, depleted 1/3 of her health and she does the stupid blind attack, step me to death and after good 4 hours, I give up and went to the mist area the get the deadly ash armor.

Challenge her again at level 7 and this time still kill me in matter of minutes. Almost begin to think there is no logical way to win like playing a Rubik's cube

Decided to go and gain more resources from Lava area and mist are. Upgrade to Level 8 armor.

Go back again this time still kick the daylight out of me to the point, Aterus has been orphan more times than I would rather count.

After 3 days of battling the impossible, the R3 pops up. I was so damn happy about it I literally command Kratos to run to when the ground is still burning. It feels so sastify when I saw Kratos rip the wings out of her.

And she declare she is still not the strongest. Dear lord.

I hate to think how we going to fight the Queen on GOW: Ragnarok

I just defeated Sigrun after many tries. She is a difficult boss but not impossible. You need the right build and the right equipment. This is my build:

1. Equip runes in your weapon, and then try to get your cool down as high as possible so you can use the runic attacks often in the fight.

2. Next, wear some sort of talisman that can slow down time ( I used Talisam of Realm shift).

3. Make sure you have the berserker resurrection stone.

4. Make sure you start the fight with maximum rage.

Learn Sigrun's attack patterns. Then during the fight, when you have the chance, chain your runic attacks, then slow down time and attack more. Sometimes after the slow time is finished, your light attack rune is ready, so dish more more runic attacks. Afterwards, activate Spartan rage and dish out more damage. At the end of Spartan rage, both the light and heavy rune attacks should be ready, then once again, chain those two attacks together. One cycle of those combos should take out a quarter of her health. In between the two dodges and those combos, you should be able to take down Sigrun. Also you should get close to her and user your shield often block and parry, and then chain the combos. You just need to be careful and block and evade properly in between. When you finally defeat her it is very satisfying to see the achivement notice!

It is so mentally exhausting to try and beat this boss whose entire moveset consists of unpredictability and chaining together attacks that cant be countered without god-like reflexes and reaction time. I've never been the type to dislike a game solely because it is challenging, I enjoy challenge, but this boss fight isn't fun whatsoever and is challenging solely for the sake of being excessively challenging.

I can confidently say Sigrun is the worst part of this game.

All of her moves are counterable/avoidable and reactable or predictable even if you have slightly above average reaction times. She's tough, has a lot of moves (that previous Valkyries teach you to recognize) and a big healthpool, but she's not unfair. The title is quite amusing when I think she's actually a pretty damn well designed encounter.

An enemy being too challenging for you isn't necessarily a sign of bad design, and in this case, it clearly is not. She's a hard boss, an optional hard boss, meant to challenge your ability to stay focussed and your pattern recognition, she does a good job punishing your mistakes, it can get frustrating at first, but the harder you try and train to beat her, the more satisfying it can be when you finally get her.

That said, she's still optional, and you can lower the difficulty if you just want the achievement. Equip a berserker resurrection stone, lower the difficulty, and you should be fine without needing to learn too much about her attacks as most of them won't be as punishing.

If you want to deal with the challenge, then feel free to ask for tips and advice, but cut the crap with your "bad design" claims, there are genuine flaws to the game, Valkyries aren't one of them.
Not to mention that whole reason they have you fight all the Valkyries before fighting her is for you to recognize the attack patterns since she literally uses the major attacks of all of them. She's tough and if you keep bashing your head against her she will ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ punish you. Took me a ♥♥♥♥ load of tries before I realized that I need to calm down. Have a drink and learn her patterns. Boom... First try. Maybe it was the scotch though.
Peelsepuuppi 23 ENE 2022 a las 9:35 a. m.
She's an optional superboss. Those are supposed to be difficult. And as far as challenging boss fights go the fight is absolutely fine. Compared to the kind of bullshit Ninja Gaiden pulls on you in boss fights (whether your attack connects with certain bosses is literally determined by RNG) Sigrun is completely fine.

She's perfectly doable and learnable. There is nothing wrong with her design no one is forcing you to do an optional superboss that is making you miserable.

big boy is cranky

And yet he's right. People get easily annoyed by whiners so it's no wonder some might react this way.

Man that was such a good boss fight, absolutely loved it. Even after I was done with the game I still put the game on from time to time just to beat that fight again. Ice Titan was pretty fun too.

Got her surprisingly easy after about ten tries. It's a survival Fight don't even think to out-DPS her.

I used the interrupt light runic attack and for the heavy runic I used the frost axe buff, time slow talisman as well.

Took it "slow" i.e. don't get greedy trying to deal damage

I would wait for the opening, activate the frost axe buff, hit her a couple times, hit the time slow, keep wailing on her, and then when she tried to do her next move I'd let her play out, then interrupt her with the light runic attack and go a few more times. By then the frost axe buff is running out, and I'd just survive until I could repeat the cycle.

Had the boy use the squirrel so I could get rage (lighting arrow mode) or health (light arrow mode) if I needed it. I hit the rage when I found myself in a rough spot.

Outside of the above, focused on dodging, getting 2-3 hits in, then backed off to see her next attack. Everything can be dodged or interrupted.

But taking it slow, managed to get her without needing to resurrect, just focused more on dodging/countering. Parrying her yellow attacks is critical as well, easy damage opportunity.
MadBoxers 23 ENE 2022 a las 11:40 a. m.
She is a collection of all the previous Valkyrie, all I can say is take her attacks slow. Dodge what can't be parried and parry whatever is parry-able.

What I did is I used my heavy runes + Atrius's stun special in order to do as much damage as possible. I used the rage to either heal a bit or do a lot of damage by throwing rocks at her. It is a fight of patience, you can't out-damage her given her very high health.

Also always have a resurrection rune when fighting her, it will make the fight easier.

All Valkyries have combat patterns and combos. All of them have unblockable attacks. And they also have blockable attacks and attacks you can parry.

They're indeed endurance fights. This is the most painstakingly way to put it. Can't brute force it. It's impossible because the unblockable attacks will kill you.

I highly recommend to master block, break guard, and parry. Parrying Valkyries' attacks with a counterattack will cut down the length of the fight.

Also, don't lock-on. You would gain to benefit by using sprint at times, as well as avoid bad camera angles and arena size (especially the walls). Kid you not, you can even dodge-roll when you're cornered into a wall as she uses an unblockable strike.

I'm bad at these fights, too, but once muscle memory kicks in, you're good to go. Patience is the key.

Muscle memory is why I'd argue they are badly designed fights. You aren't using wits to beat the boss, it's like cheesing Shao Kahn on the old school Mortal Kombat games. You learn muscle memory and just go on auto pilot. There are some people like GBG that trivialize the fight but even that for him is just insane muscle memory.

Ha yeah I beat them all about 3 years ago on the ps4, but for some reason I'm struggling on the very first one now lol. Makes re-buying the game worth it though.
