God of War
Is there a reason why this game costs 50 bucks?
Is it because its a new game for PC they just decided to charge 50 for it and people will buy it? Console you can get it for 10. Charging almost full game price for a 3 year old game just because its out on a new platform is just dumb.

What is impressive is the fact that most people are actually fine with paying 50$ for it and give the game the highest praises.

Regardless if the price is greed driven or realy justified because of the high implementation costs. People are happy they got it. This realy is a testament to how good this game is.

And now to the maybe more important part.
If this shows developers how much we as gamers honor good games this maybe gives them a higher incentive to produce good games.
We all know how much AAA garbage get's produced these days.

Why wouldn't we be fine? The lowered cost of few year old games isn't done out of goodness of the heart of the company it's not done out "fairness" it's done to keep sales going for the older title. When it's released to a new platform and a new audience there's no reason to sell it at the same price as the old version is currently selling as the devs knows it will generate good sales with a less discounted price.

And here's the thing. If you want it for cheap. It's still available for cheap for the old platform. Or you could be patient and wait for the price to drop on this platform too or wait for a sale.

Gamers have this misconception that they are entitled to a cheaper price. They are not. They are entitled to a choice of being a customer or not. If you personally see that 50 is too much for a game you have already played that is fair and your have the reasonable option to not buy it at $50.

This port took over 2 years to do. Be grateful they didn't slap a $70 price tag on it.
2-years?! Ha!

Prove it by not just taking some mouth word for it.

With all these broken issues in GoW, no full PC support, etc. facts says ~6-months, at best, with a tiny team but mostly freshman/interim/contracted devs.

"A senior developer has revealed that the PC port of God of War was in development for at least two years."

There's more about it in the interview with the dev.

I was able to get the game for $37, but still would've paid $50 for it had I not found that deal. The fact is it's been available on PS for 4 years and it just came to PC for the very first time ever, there's zero reason why they would or should only charge PC players $10. The game is worth the price,! :excited_boy:

and seen videos game looks beautful and stunning. it took them this long to port it to make it lok this good unlike some other console to PC ports i have seen
I paid for it I don't know what your anger is because of the price I bought it because I never played it but I did play the previous gows as a teenager and this game is worth it but there are others who preferred not to buy it and download it pirate that is not supporting the developers!

If you know you can get $50 for something you made would you not go for it?

It's called integrity and business ethics and all money is not good money. I know that seems alien to you, though, right?! 🙄

What would be the reason to sell it less if you KNOW thousands... and thousands.... would buy it for $50?

Because why sell or *settle* for only thousands, and have the *wise* consumers watch you carefully the next time *to either buy or not to buy* in the future when you could have earned tens/hundreds-of-thousands and gain even stronger support for your next title?!

Crazy to be fair and ethical, huh?! 😏

I thought a business was in it for being a, you know, business?
Integrity means what to a company when it is about its market target?

If business worked the way you are implying it then most would have went out of business ages ago, actually that is exactly what happened and why we have the companies left doing what they normally do.

The idea isn't alien, it is just simply naive and idealistic.
If your argument was for a lesser known indie developer, that would make more sense.
And why does a company care about consumers when they know they can get away with it? No seriously. As I said they know what they can get for it and if you were in their position and had a VERY well established consumer base, you know very well what you can tap into to test the waters on what will sell and what doesnt.

If the PC port didnt sell at $50 guess what.... they would lower the price or have a sale. If it sold well at $50 then just hold on.

Like you act like Call of Duty loses millions and millions of dollars for doing that.... some of their decade old games are still $40 dollars some even full price still. They dont really care if you ♥♥♥♥♥ and moan because they know they will double, triple, or even more than that of their costs.

You guys just keep lining up to 'boycott' things and they still sell well, so well that you guys are the ones who have to wait months if not years for it to fit your price.
I waited for God of War to come to the PC, the game to mean is worth its price I'm not going to go spend even more money to get a PS4 or PS5 just to pay another $20 on top of that cost JUST to play God of War.... its new to the PC, its an amazing game, its worth its price to me so I'm going to spend that amount. In retrospect it is either spend $250+ for a used console and then $20 for God of War or just $50 for God of War since I have a PC. THOSE are my options as a PC user right now to play the game.

Some of you guys just are so idealistic and naive to the world around you it just blows my mind sometimes. I dont even think they are taking advantage of anyone... ports are not cheap. It not $60, you get all the DLC skins that came with the game, you get better graphics, higher frame rates than what was possible on the consoles, and a plethora more in settings. Do you think it should just sell for its $20 tag that it currently sells for on PS with all those extra features and for it being the first time on PC... thats just silly, it sure as hell should be more than $30 I think and considering again your options are spending $250+ to play it on a console if you dont have that console or just $50 on PC I think the choice is obvious.

If you dont like it, then dont get it? Why are you guys trying to get the rest of us into YOUR politics on what YOU believe should be the price?

No there is no reason for this 4 year old game to cost 50$ but there are lot of sheep in gaming community so publishers will get away with any kind of prices they throw at them just deal with it and buy these games when they will cost 20$.

Okay, go buy a PS4 or PS5 for $250+ and then spend the extra $20 to get God of War.
Let us know all the cool features you get in the original game vs the PC port.

I think you vastly misunderstood my point.

What reason is there for a 4 year old game to be sold at $20? Speaking of sheep did you really believe that these prices were lowered for your benefit? You think the companies were taking you into consideration you think they were being nice? Not they lowered to price to sell even more.

Or I could just wait for 1 more year on an already 4 year old game and get it for 20$ the cost it should be.

Most of the things lose its value over time, 4 year old product isn't same as brand new. We are here receiving 4 year old product for 50$ with no regional pricing.

Exactly...this game is so cheap on the PS, but people forget how much the console itself costs when $50 gets me the game I can play on my PC that I already own! I guess people just assume that everyone already owns a PS and that they should just buy it there after 4 years. :mimir_lol:
