God of War
Ez a téma zárolásra került
God Of War is a 7/10 game with high production values
I'm tried of 1st party exclusives getting inflated reviews just because they have big budgets and can fool gamers with high quality visuals/sound

the gameplay itself is incredibly average and does nothing to deserve the 9s and 10s

same with Horizon Zero Dawn, Spiderman, etc

Have to admit I never actually finished this either, it was a little too methodical and plodding for a *God of War* game, and being a fan of the original high octane trilogy and then coming to this was a bit jarring to genre-shift into a 'Last of Us' style of paternal figure/slow walk'n'talk narrative game.

Enemies felt a bit too HP spongey also compared to how we used to carve through things in the PS2/PS3 era, for pure actiony spectacle fighter gameplay I actually preferred indies like Kena more than this. :conwayshrug:

Honestly though the horrible camera and trying to aim the axe with a thumbstick were low points too; I am interested to see what FoV options/Mods will be available here that might compel me to give it a second chance on PC.

Well, the original games were Santa Monica's take on action games of the era: Devil May Cry, Ninja Gaiden, etc. So you had crazy spectacle, combo counter to track your 100+ hit judggles, etc.

The latest game is Santa Monica's take on action games of this era: namely Souls-type things. It may or may not be your cup of tea, but you can see why they opted to go in that direction.

the first one obviously

So you have the Tell Tale Walking Dead game that kind of a score for gameplay? Hope you meant Story instead...cause the gameplay in all those games are the exact same. I own them too so don't get me wrong, but their gameplay is no 9/10 or 10/10 score.

the gameplay is as good as it needs to be for an interactive story game

is GOW an interactive story game? ouch

To be fair gow is an incredible game.
But the first the walking dead has always a place in my heart for the beautiful story but now that i think about it, i guess when it first released it was quite unique on it's own, gameplay wise and only later that style with many games became "something already seen".
The episodic formula was something new in those times if i remember right.

You literally just described all TT games that have QTE's and no open ended combat mechanics like GOW has. That score you gave makes sense when it comes to story, but nowhere close when it comes to gameplay mechanics.

They had already done it prior with Jurassic Park and Back to the Future, same episodic and gameplay mechanics, just a different licensed franchise. Stories are good, but exact same controls make the gameplay subpar once you've already played one or two of their titles.

Nobody plays on any console to be challenged, theyd be PC gamers lol, and it has nothing to do with controllers, it has to do with casual gaming. This game and most of console exclusives are aimed at non competitive casual gameplay. Have nothing against it actually, but i agree they are overrated gameplay wise at least. They are story driven interactive movie games, pretty cool for some time but after playing the same formula for years nowadays i just watch the full movies of the games on youtube and i actually feel like i saved myself a lot of life.

Hey anything that's mainstream and sells a lot of copies at least has to have a 'normal' mode that's aimed for casuals that just like the feeling of 'beating' a game and not require the actual skill and persistence that a challenging one would actually require.

Spot on brother.
Look at sekiro.

No wonder so many players throw the towel after an hour or two.

Its not because its sadistically unfair/hard. Its because theyre all soft, dumb, instagratification ♥♥♥♥♥♥. Just your standard idiot consumer. That believes 500 dollar hardware beats a 3090

Oh i understand the point, no one should listen to someone who thinks that Telltale games play like GOW. Here's the difference between the two games gameplay mechanics then since you believe they play the same;

TWD
Scripted Combat Gameplay:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_54sGYciWc

GOW
Free Combat Gameplay:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mda6G4g5p_o

Kind of a HUGE difference in being able to freely change the way you fight & defeat your foes vs. always following the scripted sequence.
How the hell did we get to comparing QTE events in a visual novel; to an action-based RPG-lite hack'n'slasher..?

May as well talk about how much the combat sucks in Forza compared to Twisted Metal while we're comparing these apples and oranges.. :steamfacepalm:
some ppl don’t understand why Telltale gameplay is unacceptable in an action game apparently

Mainly because someone here thinks Telltales Walking Dead interactive gameplay is the same as GOW's, and also thinks TWD scores higher than GOW because of it. Here's a clue, it isn't me!

Flipping through the last few pages it seems like you asked someone what games they would rank highly, they give a list and then you zeroed in on The Walking Dead and started arguing about the merits of its gameplay mechanics in relation to it being a 10/10?

Games and their perceived worth are more than just the sum of their parts.
My last few personal GOTY picks would have been of the visual novel/adventure style also, (Detroit Become Human would be the closest example of being the same as TWD) and I've enjoyed them a lot more than recent AAA blockbusters, including God of War which I eventually lost interest in.
To each their own.
I agree, but the game is fun so far it's entertaining it's a worthwhile purchase I think. I am gonna wait till 50% off.
