What to do about a stuck boat?

The boat is stuck in a corner of the map with a bouncing crossed out icon, what do I do in this case? I can only build one boat and getting rid of whatever it's trying to pathfind to is impossible. It made it's way up there to the corner of the map and now can't seem to come back down.

Place some recycling docks to make it move shorter distances towards where you want it to go

I did try that but nothing worked, it just stayed in the same place. The only thing that worked was to restart the game, that seemed to reset the boat back to the airship site.

Did you switch speed from default, slowest, one? Boat pathfinding barely functions on that speed, and completely gives up on higher speeds.

I've never needed to change the speed on this game, the boat gets very laggy for me even on normal speed.
