How do you create a burnt building husk?

Note that i've beaten the game and am playing the alternate modes, which are quite challenging IMO.

I know you can burn a forest to make them, but what if I don't have any trees? Can lava be used to burn down buildings?

Yeah, I'm not seeing how to start a fire on the abandoned quarry, despite the lava. What will it burn? "Undo turn" is very unreliable, sometimes there and sometimes not, so I'm reluctant to experiment with my few remaining resources...

OK, the answer was Dehumidifier->Solar Amplifier to start fires. The encyclopedia page on the Solar Amplifier says you can only start fires in tundra and fynbos, but that's not true. It can also be started in dry grass.

Makes sense, but an in-game help resource that is incorrect is not a good sign :) Also I lost two runs thanks to this, LOL. Huge waste of time.

It's frustrating because this is trivially easy once you know the mechanics, but the game is not telling you all of the mechanics, and not everything that's logical works, e.g. flooding with lava doesn't burn down buildings nor set fire to dry grass.
