Stuck w Sunflowers and Heliocage
Hello,

The Heliocage turns a Radioactive Waste Depot into a building that covers nearby grass with sunflowers, and reaching a threshold of sunflowers is a requirement to progress to the next phase.

However it seems possible for the map to generate in such a way that even dredging up as much land as possible to fill with sunflowers still isn't enough to reach 100% and progress to the next stage - I have tried on this same map several times and the highest I've reached is 91% sunflower quota.

Just a heads up for anyone on this map, and maybe to the developers to take a look.
Thanks for the fun and beautiful game otherwise : )

I got it pretty quickly and easily actually. Not sure what to say besides just make sure it doesn't have other biomes or such blocking its area.

its rng it seems.

I have the same issue. Capped off three radiation sites and got 97% sunflowers, but no way to continue past this. Can't work out if this is a bug or I'm just missing something.

I'm also stuck at this stage, but slightly different issue - I can't get the third Heliocage no matter what I do. No amount of purifiers bring down the radiation past a certain radius, so can't build in towards the bed. I've blasted holes near it so I can put mineralizers down (for some reason it lets me do THAT) but when I try to put down purifiers I still get "can't build in radiation." I wish I'd taken a screenshot of how many of those green cylinders I had around this thing. It was well over a dozen. The other two took like 3-4. The radiation would not dip below 81.

And yes, I've restarted this phase several times, figuring maybe I just hadn't set myself up well. Same problem.

You have to plan ahead a little and give the sunflowers soil to grow on.

Which isn't something you really plan ahead for on the flooded city since you cannot know where or even when exactly the nuclear waste will pop up – you won't even know it is possible to happen, until it has – or how much resources you will have to spend on cleaning it up. It has very little to do with planning.

That said, on each and every level of the flooded city and irradiated sprawl, I've always reached the required amount of sunflowers without having to unnecessarily mess around.

I just noticed that the Waste Storage Bunkers are already present even at the start of the level. They will begin exploding at phase 2 (or I guess if the stability drops down, never tried this yet)

It does take a bit of trial and error to figure out how to get enough sunflowers, due to how the radiation and heliocages work.

I've found if the very first things you place at the start of Phase 2 are the radiation cleansers as close to the bunkers as possible, you beat the radiation entirely.

(edit: Er... this is as far as I know. The dev who wrote this part is down with covid right now, rip.)

Placing three Heliocages should always be enough to complete the sunflowers requirement, so this looks like a bug. I'll add it to the list of things to fix!

Thank you for reporting it.

Related problem here: I can't build the 3rd Sunflowers bunker -and hence softlocked- because I can't place the radiation cleanser. I can't build them on the stone created by the mineralizer. This also seems a bit odd since the icon in the mineralizer tool tip says it'll provide stone. Also it seems to be a bug, that I can't build radiation cleansers on some ruins on my map, although they are within the radius of another radiation cleanser. So I can't cleanse my way to the last toxic dump and build the 3rd Sunflowers bunker.

Are you sure you have electricity nearby?

In my playthrough I had to restart due to radiation triggering only upon me 100%ing two of the biomes, causing only one heliocage to spawn

Tried again - still can't get that last cage - is it me, or is something glitched? https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198997939676/screenshots/?appid=1593030

I also had the problem where only 2 of the bunkers ever became active, and therefore I couldn't get sunflowers above 97% (all of the land surrounding the 2 bunkers that popped was available minus concrete tiles I can't do anything about). I think it's possible I completely surrounded the 3rd bunker with deciduous forest ahead of time.

I do think this falls into the "restart once you have better knowledge of the map" thing, because upon restart I CAN see where the waste bunkers are from the beginning. However, I can see how this might be frustrating for some players who don't realise what they've done until phase 3! (Loving the game by the way!)

use the the pillar that costs 10 to expand electricity range so you can build the radiation cleanser closer to the bunker
