Among those games, I've only played Digimon World 2.
Exploration. The world is full of secrets and the terrain feels unique. The techno/mechanical vibe mixed with real world features is something I've only ever seen in digimon. Also feels rather open world-ish since a lot of it isn't directly unlocked by or linked to the story.
Battles. It uses a sort of stamina system where you have a certain amount of stamina per turn, and you can use multiple moves per turn as long as you have the stamina for them. That's the biggest feature, but there's lots of small things like being able to equip 5 different equipment per monster, or modify stats using potential points and etc. It's a lot of small stuff that make a simple but deep system that I haven't seen in other games.
Monster designs. Great pixel art on these, and they feel a bit like a fusion of pokemon/digimon. Lots of split evos.
Story is nice. Best part is the characters. Has a lot of optional side quests you can do.
Also, there's something about this game that feels very different from other games in the genre that I have trouble putting my finger on. It almost feels like I'm exploring a liminal space like the backrooms meme? Like, there's secret shortcuts everywhere, and there's multiple ways of accomplishing the same mechanics that aren't all equal. For example, if you have to heal, you can go back to town and rest in a bed, or find a red television, or pay the robot head in protocol forest, or buy items from a vending machine and etc. In other games you would just go to the pokemon center and that's it. It makes the world feel more real and dreamlike at the same time, if that makes sense.
Go around battling and recruiting people to your town to unlock new mechanics.
