Dev's are Grade A Toxic
I was waiting for the game to get more updates, but with them currently screeching on X about Stuttering Craig i'm going to refund since you don't care about money right? Absolutely sad. I hope Civvie rescinds any sort of praise for the game.

Hey everyone,

After 1670 messages we think this topic has run its course, drifting further and further away from the things that inspired it. Despite that, we've read it all and we thank those of you who left constructive criticism.

This entire situation stems from a poorly crafted response to a direct question on Social Media about our involvement with the Real Game Awards show; which we were unaware of at the time.

In retrospect, we should have simply insisted that our inclusion was not a paid spot, and that we were unaware of the show altogether. The official Selaco account is not the place to be sharing personal opinions.

Regardless of our opinions on the show or creators, we have not and refuse to disparage or belittle our players and community. We are still making the same game for you that we set out to in the beginning, and nothing changed.

To the Selaco community:
We've been having long conversations about how we can avoid an incident like this moving forward. To put it bluntly, this situation sucks and we never should have let it happen in the first place. The community is a huge part of Selaco, and seeing cracks appear in something we've built up is heartbreaking.

Selaco is the first game we've worked on, and it's apparent that there's still much to learn for us when it comes to interactions with the public. We're now wiser and will continue more carefully.

You have our word.

"You will see several indie devs that you suggested that we wanted to feature, for free!" - Stuttering Craig

If you're making some kind of "Award Show" being viewed by 4000 people and featuring people like someone currently battling pedophile allegations for dating and grooming a 15 year old girl till she was "legal", or another who is currently in a harassment lawsuit then I am pretty sure you would still need to ASK the developer if they want their work displayed and attached to it.

The developer is very vocal, so why they weren't even *asked* is beyond me.

And the fact some folks are trying to claim the dev should be happy with "free exposure" reminds me so much of folks trying to pay artists with exposure.
Nobody likes that. That is universally mocked. You don't do that.

Did they say something nasty about Stuttering Craig? I only noticed this game after the Real Game Awards and it looks interesting, but thought they only stated on X that they hadn't heard of the show until some people complained about them having a trailer shown on it after the fact. Was there more to it? I don't see any posts on X, so perhaps something got deleted?

Sure, but even then no need to bash at individuals publicly. Could have just asked Craig to take it off the youtube video. Craig will understand and remove it.

It was Craig's responsibility as a "professional" to ask the developer before putting it into the show to begin with.
He could have said "Hey these guys voted to show a trailer of your game during our Award Show on YouTube. Is this something you're okay with?"

There shouldn't be a "He needs to ask Craig to take it out."

And I understand completely. The irony you saying Craig responsibility to be a professional at this, i could say the same to the dev as a professional that they dont want to be associate with hateful individual yet they are also talking or associate with a hateful individual on X.

On the bright side, it made me aware of The Real Game Awards, which was way more accurate and entertaining than what mainstream gaming media puts out.

That's what a lot of people think of The Real Game Awards. I am critical of some part of the show, but at the same time it's pretty good for a low budget show. General Sentiment is positive. The critic is they are platforming certain people like what Grimno says, the trivia goes too fast, etc.

I am still interested in the game regardless what both side says and supportive. Still have the game in the wishlist

I mean if you find 15 minutes of Regal Cinemas Noovie Trivia entertaining then more power to ya I suppose

I'll still spread the word and buy the game on a good discount but I think this "getting mad at free advertising" needs to stop.

No one's going to think you're a bad person because a person you think is bad liked your game, just stop 🛑.

A few things can all be true at once:

a. Craig should've reached out to this dev like he did others.

b. Dev immediately believing all the bullsh1t, unquestionably from an account that lied about half the people on there.

c. The decision to bring c00malot and PedoFist was insane to me, especially with old and present events surrounding them (a fail on Craig's part to investigate) but not everyone is aware of what they're going through unless they browse KiwiFarms, 4chan, etc.

d. Dev saying "eh, I don't need nor want y'alls money" is bonkers. For that comment alone I unwishlisted and I must have dozens boomer shooters on my account + wishlist. I love the genre. This game is for me. But not at the expense of knowingly supporting people who actively despise me for no reason.

It's yet another sh1tty situation brought about by that stupid culture war, but one that was exacerbated by irrelevant mainstream journos and their supporters for no reason other than jealousy (AlyssaMerc*nte is already in a stream with David Jaffe crying about the money Craig and Smash make).

The show as enjoyable, simple, quickly went to the point. I loved the arcade background, and laughed at the random ass bar he had behind him one time, and seeing AVGN announce the Sh1tty Ass Game of the year was a genuine and pleasant surprise.

I have no idea why anyone would be angry about an event funded by a community FOR THEMSELVES and released for free to everyone.

I wish devs the best, and if they make a public statement about it (or not) hopefully they'll recapture a few people they lost. Unless they don't care, then *shrug* good luck, I guess.

It's the fact that Craig has a history of grifting because he wants to, from what I was told, purchase the rights to Screw Attack so he'll pinch money any way he can in an effort to save up and do so.
Putting a $30 price tag on VOTING is absolutely insane considering there wasn't any real "award".
There was no actual trophy to win, there's nothing counted on any official website, and it was all preceded by him exclaiming he put the price tag on it so "trolls" don't ruin it and that "wokies" won't be able to vote cause they're poor. Basically calling anyone poor woke

Everyone outside Craig's circle saw the show for what it really was.
One giant scam that made Craig a lot of money

Though I do find the fact the gameshow was basically advertised as being "antiwoke" and they ended up voting for woke games 75% of the time

Like Nightmare Kart got their vote for best racing. Nightmare Kart.
A game who's single dev is a trans furry and I don't believe they knew that lol
