While we are mostly happy with how the Deck performs, it's still not at the point where we want it to be.
Two days ago we began working on a project that aims to improve performance significantly on all systems, but it'll be a few months until we get these changes implemented.
Game page -> game settings -> properties -> compatibility. Make sure that "force the use of a specific compatibility" is not set to Proton.
Best case is to turn that setting off, but setting it to "Steam Linux Runtime 1.0 (scout)" should be fine

Any beta branch you're using? What if you verify integrity? We haven't heard of this report before so any info you can give would be fantastic!
Do you not even get the "SELACO" loading screen?
It's a very hard problem to fix because we've never had this issue before, and without an error to work with I'm afraid there's not much we can do :(
