Steam Deck performance
Steam Deck performance is pretty bad, even on lowest settings. It seems anytime there is action the game just slows to a crawl. especially in the special campaigns. I know this game is all CPU bound but are there any tips or tricks to get this to run better?

The best tip is to run it natively. We have a lot of users who play it through Proton and that negatively impacts performance. And triple check to see if you're playing through Vulkan!

While we are mostly happy with how the Deck performs, it's still not at the point where we want it to be.

Two days ago we began working on a project that aims to improve performance significantly on all systems, but it'll be a few months until we get these changes implemented.

How do I run it natively?

Game page -> game settings -> properties -> compatibility. Make sure that "force the use of a specific compatibility" is not set to Proton.
Best case is to turn that setting off, but setting it to "Steam Linux Runtime 1.0 (scout)" should be fine

Are you getting an error message? The game should work right out of the box.

Any beta branch you're using? What if you verify integrity? We haven't heard of this report before so any info you can give would be fantastic!

Ill try desktop mode now. I will report

same problem in desktop mode .. doesn´t start at all. in desktop mode I can choose Legacy runtime 1.0 . this works .but with bad frame rates as well.... proton is ok as long there ar no shootouts... goes down to 20 FPS what makes it unplayable on steam deck... On myPC its awesome ... love this game

Even in Desktop Mode there is no error? You hit Play, and nothing happens with the screen? No start up screen, no errors, nothing?

Do you not even get the "SELACO" loading screen?

It's a very hard problem to fix because we've never had this issue before, and without an error to work with I'm afraid there's not much we can do :(
