Iron Sights
I was just wondering how the developers were to going to handle iron sights in the game.

Because on the rifle model for example you have this blue hologramm/graphic that shows iron sights. Now in most shooters (modern triple AAA like Halo Infinite) when you right-click to ADS. Your gun would move to the center of the screen, the camera zooms in and you would be able to look through that graphic to iron sight.

But in Selaco when you ADS you just zoom in and your retacle turns into this dot.

Now I was just wondering if the devs were thinking to change this to be alligned to the "modern standard". Because personally, it kinda looks silly that I have this graphic on my gun that looks like iron sights but is never actually used in the game.

But this isn't really a big problem. I would play the game regardless if this gets changed or not.

Check the options menu, you can already toggle on there ADS for the assault rifle :)
It's off by default to stay closer to its inspirations (F.E.A.R.) but I think on works rather well 'cause it looks good and it makes the assault rifle feel unique since shotgun still uses the normal FEAR-like zoom regardless.

But that will change in the final version:

Irons sights were great. Though it would be nice if the hand cannon and shotgun also were able to ADS in the same way the rifle does.

They will! Iron Sights are hard to add, so I'm waiting for everything to be 'final' before giving iron sights to all the guns.

Would be cool if we can pick and choose which guns have which type of aiming style, but I guess that could be really complicated to add.

Per-weapon AIm Down Sights is easy to implement, but providing too many options like that will provide settings creep which we should avoid for the base game

We already have tons of options and have to be careful not to add too many.

Literally an option in the options menu

I think the thread creator was referring to per-weapon iron sights. As in, allow other weapons to use iron sights while other weapons keep their simplistic zoom

Ah, ok. I know now. Alright, disregard this thread then :)

This makes me curious. What's the plan here? To have ADS for all weapons that don't have an alt fire or ADS for all weapons. Currently the pistol, despite having obvious iron sights, could not have ADS unless you add a binding for ADS specifically. I would love it if it was possible to turn off the cross-hair and use ADS for precision shooting on all weapons for which that makes sense. But I get the caution about settings/feature creep. You do already have a *ton* of options, and I love you for that.

The Roaring Cricket will not have Triple Tap by default. The only reason it is here for the demo was to show that our alt fire can do more than just 'zoom'.

In the full game, alt fires can be swapped out in the Workshop and this includes the ability to enable Zoom for the cricket.

Cool, good to know, thanks.
I found the classic aim
or "squint"
mode actually more helpful than the irons view.

You'd be amazed how much easier it is to nail headshots when the following settings are in effect:

-Weapon view minimized/off
-Squint aiming over Irons aiming if the weapon model is minimized instead of OFF
-Screenshake off
-Sway and bobbing off
-Event based camera movement and effects off
-large dot crosshair
-PROJECTILE ORIGIN - CAMERA
-screen glows
-bright enemies
-muzzle flash lighting effects off

-immersion thrown out the window

and now you are basically an aim god

in all seriousness, irons-aiming is being added. It pretty much works as you describe.
An animation plays ya hold up your bbullet slinger thingy in front of your nose
and ur gun gets all symetrical n stuff
and bullet gets launched out out of your holo sight into a dudes face

Nexxtic, do you still feel like this? I mean, there's already a ton of settings in the game and I think it would be really cool to have this implemented.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
