Selaco
Why is there a review embargo?
Does anyone know why curious why some developers / publishers may choose review embargo on launch day vs lets say a week before to get anticipation / interest up.

Are reviews not free publicity?
Or maybe that is the answer to my own question?

They are free publicity and the publisher wants the game to get as much of that free publicity on the actual day people can buy it vs before where they might forget about it.

Because having reviews go live at the same time as the game makes it easier for people to buy the game if they like it enough.

Do it earlier and people might forget, do it later and Steam's algorithm doesn't get pushed enough.

In today's day and age, momentum is crucial.

That makes sense!
Thanks for the insight and good luck with the launch.

I believe in GmanLives and Civvie11 powers, and I hope to see LZR's review too.

i played the demo. I know i'm buying the game regardless.
I love these kind of old school shooters and what these guys have done with the engine is incredible. So i don't really care what others thing. I'm gonna play and make my own damned mind up.

I was just genuinely curious how its all managed as launching a game these days is difficult.

It's not what I meant, I was talking about the "momentum" punch for future sales.

I personally played 3 versions of Demo (Backer, patched Public and Extended), I play FPS games since Catacombs 3-D and I already bought Selaco game.

I was so hyped so I couldn't stand the chance to fund it through Patreon platform, that is my second time I did that, the other one was Hedon game.

Ah i love that game. It's so great and so different.
My only complaint is the controller support is terrible so i can't really enjoy it on steam deck

Can you elaborate on the problems with controller support? What part didn't work for you?

We put a lot of work into controller support and hope to make it work for everyone!

I took notice of the game soley because of shillups news video this week. Without that I probably never would have known about this game. Embargo or not.

To be clear I'm replying to the comment about Hedon. I'm stating the controller support on Hedon Bloodrite was non existent when I tried it on steam deck. Not selaco.

I haven't tried since Christmas 2023 so it's possible it's been invented now but at that time there were just some awquard community layouts emulating mouse and keyboard.

Sorry if this caused any confusion.

Selaco controller support is fine.
