Anything before 4 would be too old, while 4 is the best one but it's not on Steam.
You have 4-II on Steam which is fine gameplay wise but overall not as good as 4.
Sanadamaru is also a good one.
Either games should be a good entry point.
But if you have a PS4, SW4 is the best one to start with.
I still play Samurai Warriors 2. Love it.
Koei/Omega Force did a customer response thing when 4-II came out. I'm sure you (Evagila) took the time to fill this out and give your opinions like all the other people that legitimately bought the game did. Right? And when koeiwarriors website mentioned Koei wanting feedback on future warrior titles, you (Evagina), filled these out with as much information as you could muster. Right?
Samurai Warriors 5 was asked for by fans like me. Who still read Koei related news and try to participate in Koei stuff. And I hope that they read all the feedback letters and incorporate as much of it as they can into this game. Cause some of us wrote several pages worth of suggestions on those surveys. So don't expect an echo chamber of people putting down a game that hasn't even been released yet. I asked for this game, I hope I like it. And I hope others like it. If you have suggestions you would like to see, try to interact with team. Send emails, fill out surveys, participate when you can. Cause nothing happens in a vaccum.
And as a reminder, Wforce has done the combat for all the warriors games, and Attack on Titan games. Have you guys played those? Do you really think the combat will be that bad? I dunno but I'll give them benefit of the doubt until I play it myself. I enjoyed the heck out of Attack on Titan games too.
I'm not as happy about the lesser cast, but OTOH 4-II had a lot of unrefined playstyles because it had way too many characters and if I wanted ALL of them, WO4 is like right there being the dream crossover that it is.
SW5 needs something to stand out amidst that competition and it looks like refining a smaller cast (to hopefully more fun gameplay) and visual style is it. I'm willing to give that a chance.
Makes no sense.
If you have come so far from playing Koei games, I know you will like this entry, hate it or not, I still love DW6 and DW9, which you guys called the worst games ever from DW :P
If you love the developer, stop being a karen and enjoy the game :)
ohhh and please, don't let me know if the game turns out to be playable to you.
So because you think they look dull, *everyone* thinks so?
Don't say that like it's an absolute truth. I think the characters look plenty stylish.
Between the more realistic weapons (finally!) and the well overdue engine update (I've never seen a Koei game this vibrant looking), I'm happy. All I can say is I can't wait to see a young Ginchiyo redone in this new style. She's gonna look smokin.
Tachibana are not part of the roster I believe. That is until you possibly have to cough up some extra $$$ for an expansion of sorts.
Probably Mori Ranmaru's gonna be there, because this reboot is catering to otome fans.
