So if that's the case though it's the shortest game to 100% complete out the four in discussion it would be Spirit of Sanada due to the lack of vanilla 4 on steam that's the best game to get to know most of the story even though it mostly follows Masayuki and Yukimura Sanada
With that I figured id best mention Samurai Warriors 5 as you maybe thinking why I didn't recommend that though similar to Spirit of Sanada only mainly following 2 characters that being Nobunaga Oda and Mitsuhide Akechi the issue here is what it covers is a lot more limited as the feudal war of Japan covers more then there full lifespans so you'll only get to know a part of the story and a limited amount of characters
When it comes to Samurai Warriors 4-2 once again the story is limited due to the fact they decided to go with individual stories which a lot of people have been wanting again but the issue here they only did it for the new characters excluding Naotora Li so I can't recommend the game as your first even though it has the perk of being a bigger game overall when being compared to Samurai Warriors 5 and Spirit of Sanada
Though not mentioned if you wanna play Warriors Orochi 4 you're going to need to play a Dynasty Warriors game in this case either 7 or 8 can be recommended on steam, 7 being due to more sensible price but if you want the more complete and more updated game then of course then go for 8
So yeah maybe not the answer you was looking for as it means buying at least 3 games(Well 2 before touching Warriors Orochi) but this is what I recommend doing as which is the best game doesn't matter until you've experienced one game out of all 3 series.
Ah right you’ve played DW8 so you’re alright there, Just to make sure do you mean you played the original Samurai Warriors(PS2/Xbox) and with Sengoku Basara did you mean Devil Kings or Samurai Heroes
But with that said if you do own a PS4 then your next choice wouldn’t be 4-II it would be Vanilla 4 but at that point you also have Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate as an option which is even better choice still but let’s continue with the idea you don’t own a PS4 for now as everything I know so far tells me you own one.
So with what you know and what I’ve mentioned Samurai Warriors 5 wouldn’t be your first choice based on the fact it has clones making characters losing there individuality in my opinion and when we compare it’s price/content it loses out there as well. One thing it does have going for is the more balanced gameplay with features like Hyper Attacks and Rage Mode being nerfed but that can’t help it stand by itself making a weak entry into the series unless you’re fan of Nobunaga and Mitsuhide and of course the games new art style which I liked but I know not everyone does.
So yeah as I mentioned Spirit is Sanada is your first choice as I can’t recommend jumping straight onto Warriors Orochi 4 Ultimate cause if otherwise that’s the one I would of recommend due to amount or characters and battles to go through even though it loses out in the story department with it be the weakest in its series in my opinion though I guess you could say that’s where having so many characters backfires at this point though you could argue that they could of balanced it out with factions like they did in the first 2 Warriors Orochi games but at this point we can only hope they do that for the 5th entry in the series.
So yeah I hope that helps hopefully with this and what everyone else will post on there thoughts you’ll be able to come up with choice on which game you feel is right for you to start with.
