I cut it into a 10 and a 9 segment, and still only get 3 items at a time. The first one just gave me gold, but that might be because I recently unlocked it.
I just had sometimes more, because you can stack the orders. They then run while you are away.
The 32 tile mine makes no sense at all, it runs way too slow.
The sweet spot for gold, silver and rubys, seems to be between 6 to 10 tiles.
But, you can ignore the mines completely, there is no reason to use them.
I finished the game and you find a long the story each and every resource more than enough.
(I always used the cake)
Mine 1 contains of 2 tiles including start and end tile.
Start tile is next to stop tile
-> 1 Ruby, 3Tin + Coal,
Mine 2 contains of 45 tiles including start and end tile.
Start tile is diagonally away from stop tile
-> 3 Iron, 3 coal,
I theorise that the total number of tracks laid may be the factor, not number of tracks in the individual run. My first track of 11 segments (counting start and finish tiles) hadn't changed at all but is now producing ores it didn't before.
Silver and Gold unlocked for me, when I randomly looted them out of a chest and a barrel. I had the 32 tile mine without gold and silver and found them after building the mine, which unlocked it.
