cartography table?? PLEASE HELP!

loved how the game looks, but when i came to the point in tutorial to build the cartograhpy table it doesnt gave me the option in the build menu from the workbench or neither on my own crafting menu. so i thought i might had to upgrade the workbench right? well, it needs beeswax. so i started searching and chopping trees. im now, 18 tiles of plains further, searched and chopped EVERY tree there is, and still got NOTHING! so i cant progress in the game.. :( whats going on? am i doing something really wrong here??????

You find beeswax in the pine forests, on trees with bee hives in them. You usually get 2 honey and 1 beeswax per hive.

There seems to be no way to harvest the beehives, felling the trees is the only way I think.

They should make it so that if you leave that tree intact you can get bee stuff with the F key on the tree.

If you attack it, the hive will fall before the tree is taken down. But they will respawn even if you take down the tree. Just takes a day or two.

It's not needing more beeswax.
If I don't misremember, it's making ink and having feathers.
