Beeswax??

I've found one tree with bees. Could not harvest the wax. So I chopped down the tree. Still no beeswax. What kind of logic is that?

Keep trying. I noticed I'd get 1 beeswax per about 3 bee hives.

hives are on trees in the forest squares.
one hive provide one honey and atleast one beeswax.

I found easy way to get honey fast, tho it seems not intended. Just get killed, after reviving many things reset (and it seems you lose nothing but day streak). After first time I revived after I was killed by some enemy who was behind a tree and I didnt even see, I got many trees with beehives.

I have gotten wax and honey from every beehive, what you have to do is be under neath the hive when you are hitting the tree with the axe, and you should see two different hit points pop up with each hit

Getting beeswax seems to be real trouble. I've cut down two trees with beehives so far. Got stung nicely. Lost half my life while cutting down just one tree. And even though I SAW the hive falling down and dismantling into parts, nothing went into my inventory. Both times. So you lose much of your life for nothing. And you need FIVE wax for the upgrade. FIVE! And the tiles with pine trees always have just ONE hive. How many pine tree tiles must I place just for this ONE upgrade???


Edit: Seems to me like a bug. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Cut down 4 four more trees with hives. Every hive dismantled into the same pieces, but only two of these four gave me honey and wax. Even though I stood right there, when the ressources fell down. Needs to get fixed. Because... after how many hours can we finally upgrade the workbench? It's a bit frustrating, although the rest of the game seems pretty interesting.

Beeswax feels like its a big barrier to progression because the hives are random spawns with the drop rate of the wax lower than it should be for an early phase of the game. This is made all the more annoying by the 30 points of damage you take smacking at the hive so unless you have the cooked fish that heals by 10 you can only ever do three hives per sleep cycle.

That said this is a pre-early access demo so hopefully will be subject to change.

For me drop rate was 100% for 1 piece each beehive. You just need to do what Abdur1025 have said, hit tree in front of beehive so you see two separate dmg numbers (meaning you hit both tree and beehive) because beehive has less hp than tree it should be dismantled before tree.

yeah there is something they need to adjust for beeswax. Should spawn more often. Also, seems to be a bug where the wax disappears suddenly and you can't pick it up.

In my experience, you won't get the beeswax if you chop down the tree before the beehive. Aim for the beehive, you'll likely hit the tree too, but majority of the time the beehive will come down first. I always get two honey and one beeswax from each hive that way.

The beeswax is a little tedious. I've just placed about 10 tiles looking for it and found none...

I cannot find any beehives and I can only place the first type of tile which does not have any beehives. Since I need those to upgrade the workbench so I can build the cartographer's table I cannot progress in the game.

Chop down trees and when they regrow a few days later they "might" have a hive, its RNG.
