Switchball HD
Possability Of Switchball 2?
I used to play this on XBLA back in 2007, and at the time the physics and interaction were fantastic, now we are in 2021, with RTX, and loads of other crazy new tech, switch ball 2 does not seem that far fetched, with workshop support and loads of physics puzzles, and game play paradigms.

Would be cool, I think the physics and controls in this game are still really good. I got Marble it up on Steam and it's a decent game but the ball doesn't feel half as good to control as it does in Switchball.

Sorry for necro, but try/search for Ballance on Steam. While its abit different and more chill. It has some unique style.
Guys to quail your hopes for Switchball 2 as much as I want it too, there is development of a mod that would add level creation to Switchball and probably customization of ui and other elements if compatible

Could the mod add multi-player support? Do you have any idea when the mod will be released?

Take the IP away from these dbag devs and yeah, maybe. But this group of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ who change levels to remove shortcuts that people found to get around some of the garbage mechanics can go ♥♥♥♥ themselves. THat's just a ♥♥♥♥ way to finger wag old players and screw over new ones.

A number of levels have significant changes that force the player to go through "as intended" instead of figuring a shortcut around them. So far, this seems to be more a problem with the Cloud world than overall. But I dread what nonsense I'll catch in Lava.

An example is one of the earlier Cloud levels. There's a section towards the end where you have two walls with gates that need to be opened, by using the Jump ability to get to either side and using cannons to launch balls to their respective buttons. You could, if controlled right, use the Jump ability on one side to get around the first wall, which is a fairly significant time saved of +10 seconds. In this they made the wall wider so this shortcut is no longer possible.

And I'm pretty sure there are sections swapped between levels, but would have to dig and hopefully find videos from years ago to confirm it. Which, if true, would just be timed wasted on editing instead of just making new levels.

No, as far as I know the games original servers were by Sierra Online Entertainment which is now canned or last I remember researching part of a whole different company. I did manage to get my alt account in the same lobby with my main account here. Upon starting the game the host sees nothing change while the players see that the host left the lobby. A match never starts because there is no netcode. Also the multiplayer button is just disabled by default. This games button code looks like HTML that's why I'm able to edit it and add functionality, and this later led me to use Blender to make a whole Level Editor

also if this proves useful to you at all, this game has Physics support for Water and other various liquids, however you can only run it on a Aegis PhysX card, any other card and the game crashes. I only know this because I seen old gameplay footage on youtube of someone playing some of the levels with water based puzzles. Other Liquids in the game code that go unused: water, oil, glue and paint

I'm working on level editing right now, but later on I plan to make a level importer. This Blender Addon/Mod will work between both emulator and physical releases including xbox, playstation, and pc. I already tested it out on rpcs3 and they all work. Bare in mind making custom levels on PS3 greatly increases load for the level. also I ported the HD Main Menu into the ps3 version and it looks funny :bo3lmso:

sorry I didn't answer your question, but it should hopefully release in the middle June. I'm testing bugs and setting up a bunch of stuff in blender. The early development of this in blender was a mess, but right now it's tame. I just need to fix special objects, which are objects that have specific functionality to them like Timers, Magnetic objects. There are some invisible stuff that go on under the hood that you never knew about like. Checkpoints having an invisible Box that determines respawn, what to spawn the ball as, other stuff, waypoints for gyrocopter and hover objects. A bunch of stuff. I also got a disc to join for development and community testing.
Note: the ui stuff isn't complete. The Level Editor and Importer will release. The only working proof I have is on my Community post where I show I'm in a lobby with my alt and that's all you can do right now.
If any of you know anyone who's good at setting up severs and net code let me know. So we can probably make custom servers that could even allow for custom maps to be played together. We could probably make some insane multiplayer puzzle maps, just like in Portal and Portal 2. Because they have an insane community with mappers!
