Cairn
What was your most challenging route?
I’ve finished the demo a few times now, and I keep challenging myself by exploring new, seemingly impossible routes just to test the limits of what’s possible in the game. I’ve even managed to climb some walls that I wasn’t sure were meant to be scalable...but hey, you never know until you try, haha.

On my last run, I attempted to climb the right side of the first section:

I failed, A LOT, but I got pretty close...I think. :steammocking:
It was a lot of fun to try. Here’s a video of my progress:

That's great work!! That's the furthest up there I've seen anyone get without using grip assists, like chalk. I've done that climb a few times but I used chalk.
There's a fun route around the wall to right, if you haven't tried it. All the holds are narrow crimps.

Thanks, mate! I'll definitely give it some more tries the next time I play it, using more chalk. I saw the route there, but I wasn't able to reach it yet, haha.

After completing the route with the pills, you've motivated me to try it again without any assists :D

Haha, that's awesome to hear! If you can, try recording your attempts—I’d love to watch and maybe pick up some tips. I haven’t managed to get through the whole section yet, so seeing how you approach it could be super helpful!

That spot in the video is the exact spot I tried as well. Getting up there is fairly easy once you find the route. But man, I'm convinced it's impossible to fully get up along the right side. But then again, you got a good bit higher then what I achieved, my highest spot was a bit below the piton you place in the middle there.

The hardest route I actually managed to complete was the right edge of the climbing gym rockwall. Even just getting into the route without using the gym wall as a crutch is hard to figure out. Then you have to ascend a crack and eventually there are a couple slippery rocks that can easily throw you too. Good thing is, you don't die if you fall, since you did not yet leave the gym ;)

That section is incredibly difficult. I still haven't found a way to successfully climb through that route, but I saw on Reddit that someone managed to do it:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Cairn_Game/comments/1hgbwpt/this_slab_took_several_days_of_attempts/

According to the post, it took them several days of attempts to succeed. Some players even call this section 'the trap' because it's so challenging to climb out of once you're stuck there. Still, it's a really rewarding challenge!

I might as well try the right edge that you mentioned. Seems like a good challenge. 💪

I was gutted when the demo ended really wanted to climb that mountain xD very well thought out mechanics and demo was executed perfectly. Interested to see more from these devs.

They should add weather and stuff that affects the surfaces and your characters temp that requires thicker clothes or what not.

I went up the tall seperate rocks structure that's near the top on the left, and jumped across to the cliff, pretty cool.

I'm the one who made that reddit post for the slab route, I think I used chalk twice and some raspberry juice for focus.

The hardest route I've done so far is this one, also needed consumables:

And I think there will be weather effects. In photo mode, you can have things like rain, fog, etc, so visually it's in place. Plus, there's a warmth stat that isn't really applicable in the demo, but I imagine towards the summit it'll be more important.

Man, take my awards! You’ve earned them. Well deserved, haha.

Congrats on conquering those routes! Your skills are truly amazing. I’ve been struggling with those slabs myself, but it’s been so rewarding to see the progress I’m making. It takes time, but there’s nothing quite like the satisfaction of overcoming a tough route.

This game is going to be incredible once it’s released, with so many players exploring different routes and creating unique challenges. I’m betting Kami will be a challenge in itself, especially with the dynamic weather changes and everything. But hey, there’s always room to push the limits and make things even tougher, haha. Imagine Free Soloing Kami. Can't wait to try and fail over and over again.

Based on what we've seen in the trailers and the photo mode, it looks like weather effects will play a significant role. The summit being covered in snow suggests that clothing might become an important factor too. It’ll be interesting to see how those elements influence gameplay.

I was only able to get it due to a glitchy part of the wall that looks smooth but is actually a crimp.

I had to hunt for that spot each time. If you're a centimeter off, she just open palms it and eats away at stamina.
