This was actually my first attempt at caverns, i may do a much larger one another time.
It is done by:
1. raising the surrounding land to the height of the walls
2. Making walls and floor rock
3. Putting rock objects around the building
4. Adding objects in the room/door etc.

Right but it is a single cave and in my campaign the party if entering the underdark for an extended time. I can use something like Dungeondraft while not as impressive looking at this program can bang out random cavern maps in seconds.
Again, it takes about 15 minutes to make this, not including adding in any objects to finish off your vision. You are right that Dungeondraft can create a cave map in a matter of seconds, but it is not going to look nearly as good as what you can get from this program. So you have to ask yourself if you want quality or quantity?
Personally, I don't mind taking the 15 - 20 minutes to make a believable map. I don't like the simple art style of Dungeondraft, which is why I paid for this program.
