Tabletop Simulator compatible?
My friends and I have been playing a campaign in TTS for over a year. If this works with it I'll buy it. But I've yet to see or find a definite answer as to whether or not these maps can be imported into Tabletop Simulator. Does anyone know if it can?

Dungeon Alchemist can only export 2D images.

I wish it would work with 3D

Yeah, this would be absolutely amazeballs if you could export for use in TTS. Instead of the crazy tedious process you have to use there. That mindnumbing process is the main reason I switched to roll20 after running a short -term adventure on TTS. Was a major pain.

" use in your favourite Virtual Tabletop Application" Then why this line in the product description? That clearly invokes the mind to think it would be usable with tabletop simulator.

Roll20, FoundryVTT, Fantasy Grounds Unity, that sort of thing. Dedicated VTTs for tabletop RPGs.

If you want a free option... you could probably take the maps built from Dungeon Alchemist and import them into something like Owlbear Rodeo, add your favorite tokens, and use that as your battlemap component.

I love TTS, but it's great for boardgames only. It's a pain in the ass to make RPGs work and it lacks many basic features dedicated to RPG. Roll20, FoundryVTT, Fantasy Grounds Unity are great examples of VTT, but I can also recommend you take a look at Talespire. It's not as good for RPG as the previous mentioned, but it works like a TTS that is dedicated to make 3D rpg maps.

And you can. You can import and use 2D images on TTS. It just won't look the way you thought it would. But you can use there, if you want.

i've looked at other systems but my group and i have been playing TTS for over a year and i highly doubt we'll ever make a switch. I have not had many issues at all running them game and making maps for my friends in it. was just curious if this let you export models and textures. if its a 50 dollar game that just gives me 2d images after putting in the work to make stuff in it, then its not a fit for me. thanks for the info though :)

I used to run through TTS and let me tell you despite all the gimmicks of being in a virtual 3d space it pales in comparison to the amount of immersion and quality of life you get from a proper VTT especially something like FoundryVTT which right now imo is the best VTT out atm for a vast number of reasons but most of all how much you can modify it.

Dungeon Alchemist allows you to get high quality maps imported into any VTT (even TTS in 2d) in a fraction of the time the same map would take you to make and set up if you used many other programs. In VTTs that support line of sight and lighting it automatically sets up walls and light sources which might not sound like it takes a lot of time but it certainly does.

What this means is as a DM you can spend less time drawing up a good looking map and more time making more content which is always a huge plus.

For anyone who wants a truly immersive 3D experience, go with TTS. For anyone who wants a non immersive cartoonish ARPG look, go with foundry.

all have their places with TTRPG but where TTS shines is its ability to have detailed 3d models and environments whereas with VTT that are not TTS you can get cluttered with stuff easily and can be difficult for new users. is one better than the other? no, it's all on how you play.
