How do I unlock ability to buy wood?

I have all the workbenches needed and a log storage container.

i am also having the same problem and i am unsure if its even in the game or a requirement to have a bigger smithy because i have almost gotten to the 3rd upgrade for my shop with the 350 gold and the 150 required prestige and nothing shoes in the shop to buy wood for my missions

To buy wood you should have a workshop and a woodworking room set. Keep in mind that some events and modifiers could block the ability to buy wood.

The woodshop unlocks in the 3rd smithy upgrade.

Wait, what? 3rd? then WHY are there quests that DEMAND wood BEFORE 3rd grade??

Because you're playing story mode. Quests are attached to certain timeline, not to your stall level. If you need a more laid-back experience, try sandbox mode.

There are no active events and I dont think there are any modifiers that would block my ability to buy wood but I am still unable to. I am in story mode so I am already behind on wood working so is there any way to fix this so I can continue playing?

so.. today i was locked out of buying logs altogether, the worst part wasn't even the inability to complete quests, but the fact that eventually a certain quest involving a schyte came up and...made me lose the game.
came on this forum to see where it went wrong, but i'm assuming was just bad RNG.
