What guns you used and what perk and artifacts you had?
That game was advertised to me as a immersive stealth FPS, now they are pulling the DeusEx-card that says "Sorry, you should have invested in fighting skills to survive the boss fights". The game oscillates between intense immersion and unpolished garbage.
Bosses tend to have this thing where effective shots are mid to close range, which will nerf all of your damage. I've collected a ton of ammo as well, and never had to use it all for the 3rd boss.
3rd boss I just used the chain revolver, repeating shotgun, with some gold ammo I've been collecting (about 50 gold short, 30 gold shotgun) and the boss went down easy, and any minion that spawned died to a headshot while they were still coming out of the summoning circle
The only combat perks that actually matter is the melee ones. If you don't do melee, even the gun perks are just faster reload speed, effective headshot distance, and 5% more damage which only for hard hitting guns, isn't really much to sneeze at.
You should be finding the artifacts that work with your build/playstyle.
People have defeated all the bosses with melee only, Guns make it easier. I will agree that the game has these moments where the difficulty spikes, and then it plateaus or drops once you get some newer gear, or understand how a new enemy works.
At which level did you have enough points to max all the skills?
