Can't find giant leeches

Hey guys, im in chapter 2 and I need a giant leech for the ritual, apparently you get them from aligator, but I killed about a dozen of them if not more and still no drops, is there an easier way to find it ?

There is no easier way to find it, but you can improve loot drop chances with level 3 prospecting skill (gold prospecting skill costs 1 point for each level so you can get all of them in one level up) and equipping the ace of spades artifact (which you should've found in chapter 1)

There are also a couple just out in the map. I found one in the town, by all the fishing shacks.
