Edit: Perhaps by "attack" they mean melee? I wonder... That could explain it..
Edit 2: Nope.. Tried to melee regular enemies and still nada.. Bugged?
I didn't try myself, but i think esoteric enemies are Wendigo and Stalkers (maybe Cultists too).
Have you tried hitting one of them with a melee weapon?
So then what would be considered ethereal enemies?
Spiritual enemies I imagine. Like dogs and cowboy duelist ghosts?
I don't know if you're replying to me, but wouldn't ethereal enemies be enemies that have flesh (material).
Since DuckHead replied to OP's question with "Basically it's the same as spiritual ones, everything non-material."
The word esoteric is a very strange choice here if it's meant to mean the same as ethereal, but it COULD be used that way... at a bit of a stretch. It's definitely confusing, though.
Ring should just say "ethereal" since that's what it works on.
I was trying to figure out what category of enemies are considered "Esoteric" in the game
And what category of enemies are considered "Ethereal" in the game.
=P
It still confuses me as I can't tell if the game developers are going by dictionary definition of Esoteric and Ethereal or by "their own definition".
EDIT:
https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/ethereal
https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/esoteric
I bring up those two links because the closest example to Esoteric applying to a creature in this game is definition 3. of special, rare, or unusual interest.
