What are “friendly re-rolls”

I have been wondering what “Friendly re-rolls” exactly entails,

more explicitly: what does the “no longer benefits from Friendly re-rolls” on the “non-numeric adjacency multipliers” passive exactly effect and in what scenarios would this line be detrimental to the power of this passive?

When a die is rerolled, it can’t gain value from other dice which are not rerolled. For instance if you reroll a single numeric multiplier but don’t reroll any numerics then it won’t be worth anything. However with friendly rerolls this isn’t the case, so with friendly rerolls you reroll an adjacency multiplier many times and keep getting the values of the adjacent dice
