Sound has become muddled

I noticed the sound has become muddled. I tweaked the different sound levels in the options. Then I noticed when I restarted the game, all the sound levels were back at maximum. I didnt think much of it at first, I just set it back to my preferred levels. Did this a few times, but now I realize the overall soundscape has become muddled with lowered quality...

I compared with some youtube gameplay footage and indeed, my game sounds worse than that for some reason.

I also found that when I load a game from early in my playthrough, the sound is normal again. But when I load my recent save its muddled, even though the sound level options are set the same. Its as if the treble is turned way down.

So, somehow, the sound is corrupted in my latest save files...

Im playing on Switch, version 1.01

I tried to redownload the game but the issue still remains in my save file.
In the main menu the music and UI click sounds is back to normal.
My conclusion would be that there is info about the sound level changes baked into the save file somewhere, distorting it...

A possible solution would be to remove any sound info from the save files somehow.

I also noticed my save files say "Closed-Beta-RL 1.15"

Solution:

Turns out my character had the item "ear plugs" equippped.
