The few melee and ranged abilities you can get are pretty good, if not very flashy.
Lore-wise, the ability to use magic at will is kind of a big deal.
It's beyond the point where I can return this, and I don't feel like leaving a negative review. I just deeply regret not knowing this was "warrior hit smash" on repeat.
Game rocks in a way few do with actually showing mechanical progression and with incredible exploration. Your loss if you think it’s only bonk.
Its hard alright, thats why its Gothic, you feel a fight is too hard and enemies are spongy, thats because you are low level for them, you can still clear some areas with those spells btw, i cleared the wolf den with one pillar of fire, died a bunch trying that stunt, cant remember the name of the spell but thats what it does.
You will die a lot until you know which enemy is which, early game i advice you to stick with rats, insects and those little tree people, do quests too, until you get some meat on your bones you are the dinner out there hehehe.
Go full strength, get some training and those unga bunga fights will turn around with some skill use, its more tactical than you think if you use everything at your disposal.
