Question about joining the Remnants [MINOR SPOILER]

Hi,

Is joining the Remnants an important decision in the game? I understand there is 2 clans and if I join the Remnants, do I lose the option to join another clan which will affect the available quests?

In chapter 1 you need to join a faction, either Remnants or Nemeton. You can do all the starting quests for both faction, but if you really join one, the other becomes unavailable. The npcs that let you join them tell you this very clearly so you cant join one accidentally.
