You actually start with a sword and then you get a stick.
Even then the stick is more than powerful enough for the enemies in that particular area.
The sound even sounds like a sword so..... its a weapon either way. Doesn't matter what it's called. The game is just giving you a starter weapon.
You find a better weapon very soon after.
I think you need to at least play and try the game before rendering judgement unless you’ve literally watched hours of gameplay from different content creators that can also offer you a more diverse perspective.
I generally judge games for myself never rely on others. Same philosophy in life.
