Any reason to save stat potions?
For example, will increasing base focus early with a potion diminish my return from learning points?
Or can I just down them when I get them?

It always costs the same amount to increase. So chug away.

There's only 8 madragoras so far in the game, so choose your potions wisely.

Ikr, its my second playthru, wanna min/max a bit :D
(some potions are also for sale. Ruin raiders have a + base focus and a +health potion after 5 delivered signet stones, for 800 each they are quite the bargain)

From a min/max perspective

Trainers have hard caps on how far things go (120 or 150)

So if you say wanna MAD dump your mind then you would NOT use any mind potions until you've hit the cap on the trainer then add the potions to go over the max possible

From a realistic standpoint it won't matter much

You'll be level 20-24 at the end of the game so 80-100 learning points + another what 15 from shrines

so in theory you'll max out a stat at around 130-140 if you go all in on that one stat alone

before potions

which is kinda moot anyways

the hardest fights in the game I was able to do well before having the best armour

The hardest actual fight seems to be a bunch of regular NPC mobs during an act 4 area where they literally hit harder than any other mob in the game

IF you dump into strength you'll hit for 2x base damage
If you dump into dex you'll get ~20% critical chance (double damage + 100% bleed damage) (and skill dependent poison too)
IF you dump into mind you'll get 2x magic damage (which honestly isn't that powerful) but get the ability to easily spam abilities at the start of and mid battle

The game is easy to break with dumping strength and mind after

Dex is kinda garbage

All true. Kinda contemplating wether Dex might work with spears (poison in addition to bleed), but prolly not.
My first Char had some Dex, and it is not that bad (had a talisman that gives hp back when hitting a bleeding enemy (10% chance or sth) with sword and board, but honestly the points wpildve been better invested in more STR^^

The real min max is exploiting the game mechanics by opening pouches/reloading for mandrakes for potions. You can get a lot more than the base 7 that way and on top of that if you put single stat potion in your bar you can press the button twice to double up each time. Even exploiting the game like this you will have far too few points to reach the training cap of 120-150.

I use that talisman on daggers. With high attack speed and crit chance, you will get back a decent bit of hp, especially with crowd hits
