quest: journey to the root of the mother - cannot solve it

quest: journey to the root of the mother
I visited the Northeast one (there are 2 roots and a bear which are WAY to hard for me alone) but I dodged cleverly.... however, I can NOT interact with the root. The cogwheel is grey when I hover over it.
Note: I have the 2 amulets with me (without blood of course).
Why can I not interact with the roots ??

I left the root and then I had to move to Act 3 , where it is too late for the quest.

Just a note, amazing how players play differently this game, by the time you doing your quest and cant kill a miserable bear ( xD), i already beaten Bady on top of the wellpsring

Well, I am actually a completionist. I did ALL the quests that I could up to this point.... nearly. the only one that I had left open was the Arena stuff, for which I had to best the 2 in Nemeton (which I can not with fight level 40 and Sword with attack skill 36). Also with this level you see I cannot kill a bear.
nevertheless, there were no quests open. so what should I do, other than move on to Act 3.

im a completionist too and an old school gothic veteran, thats exactly why i am way ahead , by the act 2 ending i was already too overpowered and killing leshen by drinking 2 max 3 dark brew and spamming axe attack button, it was fun doing every quest including the hidden ones and killing everything that walked and breath and searching every nook and cranny for good weapons and armors, but then it was a boring speed run from act 2 to end of act 4, which was kinda sad but i guess i had my justified amount of fun already.

One thing i regret , i didnt kill the spider queen, i dont know how to advance that story arc.

I am pretty sure that you can't. it retreats when it gets like 75% damage.

you can even down it to 0% - it still runs around a bit at zero health and then scampers to the fog, so yeah

In the northeast is one usable root. The second one is in the southeast of the camp.

as I said, the issue is (besides that the fight is too hard for me at that time) that I can not do anything with the root.
the cogwheel is greyed out when I hover over it.

Then you have to try the bear. Take enough bear traps, crow´s feet and frag bombs to kill it.
Btw why don´t you have the legendary weapons?
I´m in act 1 and have some legendaries. Now it´s much easier to kill the bears...

found some legendary, but do not even have attack 50 skill to use them. skilled not only to fight but also other skills of the skill tree.

At least you found it. I've scoured those damn woods more than 5 times and haven't located either. The north-east one is before the ruins with the harpies, right?
