As far as I can tell there is probably not so much difference. You can fight in the Arena in the ruin camp too, after you joined Nementon and can still visit the camp.
so choose the faction with the armor you like more and when you finished the game, start a new game and join the other faction :)
The Nemeton are harsh on anyone who break their rules, including people who are forced to do it, and they are more insular. But that's pretty much just what it takes to run a functional society so it all gets a pass. Their "bad side" is really how they treat the Divinities, but you don't really find that out until later and I'm pretty sure the Remnants do exactly the same given the chance (when you join and play their questline, which I haven't done).
Remnants = Lawless scammers and murderers where you have to suck up to local mafia in order to survive.
Nemeton = religious p*icks with sect-like laws who relish in punishing and you have to suck up to local guru in order to survive.
Chose Nemeton after all because that silver mining scam Remnants do is just disgusting.
Also I feel that the reasoning behind the Remnants loyalty towards Jero, and Jero himself doesn't feel very fleshed-out.
Hoping to do a playthrough with Nemeton once the difficulty patch drops. From what I understand, the priemeval forest mission will have the same ending, but atleast it's consistent with how Nemeton behaves.
Yea, Boris was definitely a big reason i was like nah, to the remnants. After that crap he pulled with me, he met the sharp end of my spear a few times.
Not to mention, nemeton is an actual city, and I like the idea of trying to make the land into the promise land they dreamed about instead of just simply running away
