Is "Iron" mode permeadeath?

Googled and searched this and found no answers. I want the restriction of one save, but I don't want permadeath either. Like Outward.
No big deal either way, just wanting to know what I'm getting into. Looks like a cool game. Thanks!

Nothing I know of.
And at all, have you ever seen a very decent and plain iron mode - since it's neither a godlike deathwish difficulty mode nor a game+ mode - with secret events or endings?
Well, me neither.
This game offers different endings; but they don't depend on the iron or classic mode.

ironmode is just 1 save and no manual saving so you are forced to live with most stuff you do if the game saves.

This is also the mode that arouses my interest. I've had a look at it. But the game saves after every battle, doesn't it? That's not very souls-like.
