Can you be a mage class?
Like a full mage. Thanks

You get non-consumable spells in chapter 3 (think it's the end of chapter 3 actually). However, they cost a lot of Focus per spell, which means you have to attack with weapons or use consumables anyway. Also the only way to "level up" spell casting is the Mind stat. There are no spell-related skills you can buy with LP.

Yeah no pure mage here, since you will need to get close to attack and gain focus, and you loose focus when hit, becomes a little unreliable, and since magic is pretty strong if you could have a rune, magic missile and some mind trainer at chapter one you could destroy everything.

So whats the point if you only use non-consumable spells in end game...damm

For clarity since I was biased by this thread as if there wasn't mage-funnery, you can literally get 'magic' armor that helps boost magic damage/gain base +6 focus post ch3, and that means shoving magic missiles for free with enough investment--so basically you're a battlemage. Poke the foe for some focus or let it regenerate while you run around, and then do fun magic time with your runestone.

You can become a mage in chapter 4. So its like 70% of the game done, depending on how much you did before.

But that lets them make mage really rewarding. I squirreled a lot of points and became full fledged mage and it absolutely slaps. I have enough base focus to just keep casting fire shout and it is pretty op.

You can be full mage but it only comes online after you completed 3/4 of the game. It's also one of the most powerful endgame builds.

If you want to go that route i recommend using daggers before that point, they are the only weapons that benefit from pumping Mind since the right click attack scaled with focus.

I'm sitting on the fence about the game - it ticks absolutely all the boxes for me except magic and spells.. I hope spellcaster class will come around in some form, I'll absolutely go ham on world exploration while spellslinging :D

It is more auxiliary. If you really want to 100% spellcast, you wont get the chance.

I mean for the last 30% I did mainly spellcast, but I had most of the world explored by that point.

actually a pure mage class is very much possible.

you have a base focus stat, which you can increase throgh gear, mind-stat and potions, by a lot.

This stat determines the point until which you get "mana reg".
all spells/runes have a focus cost, if your focus stat is at or higher than the requirement, you do not even need to autoattack with your weapon at all.

if you manage to reach the 60 or 70 focus point, then you can cast a spell, that will generate focus for you.

also there are potions that will generate a lot of focus points per second for up to 50sec (if i recall correctly).

In my current playthrough (Act 4), i have reached above 30 base focus, as a melee focused character equip.

i recommend to try to play a mage class earliest on your second playthrough, and then rush through the story to get to act 3 to unlock your runestone.

most of the combat can be skipped, and you can rush through in under an hour i assume.
---
So, TLDR; yes, you can be a mage. 100%

Actually, I'm playing full mage class and it definitely works well. Idk who came up with "there is no mage class in Drova", but that's not true.. ^^

The only reason some may think of a disadvantage is that you start weak and struggle from time to time, if you save your stat points until you find a spirit teacher, as I did. But once you are able to stat spirit, you'll equip decent gear and snowball hard.

What equipment/weapons you use first?
